Pros
A fair place to work and management really pushed work life balance for the staff. Financially it was paying at or above market.
Cons
Hierachical structure of the bank in the finance department was entrenched. Often had to stay late to finish off reports and systems were not the best.
Advice to Senior Management
The One-Bank culture being pushed seemed superficial, promotion or movement to other areas of the bank was very political. If job opportunities were issued to all staff in an open manner it would improve and motivate more staff.
Pros
Good work-life balance.
Advancement opportunties.
Cons
If your not based in North America or UK - then can be significantly more difficult to get ahead.
At senior mgmt level - form over substance seems to win.
Issue at the front line do not seem to make it up through the food chain.
Promos seem to be geared to UK/US
Advice to Senior Management
Spend some one-on-one time with your 2-downs / 3-downs - may not be what you want to hear but it should be constructive
Pros
The best reasons for working at DB are a good rewards package, good team culture, and good senior management. For analysts the training is uncomparable eg. Modelling training, Graduate training in London for six weeks and regular M&A workshops detailing important issues in the industry.
Team culture is very strong with an informal, open-plan atmosphere with constant banter amongst analysts and associates and good connectivity with senior management. As teams are small, get good involvement in major transactions and closeness with remaining team members. Everone is approachable including MDs, COO and Head of the Bank. We also have quarterly lunches with the Head of Banking to improve feedback to management.
Cons
Downsides of working at DB include small teams, analyst under-hiring, and certain strong personalities
Advice to Senior Management
Improva accountability and performance measurement at senior ranks
Pros
Good people. Good money. Great working environment.
Cons
Limited creativity within the company structure.
Advice to Senior Management
keep it up.
