    Pros

Brilliant group of people, strong culture and diversity. Mostly everyone had an mba, phD, licenses. Lots of intellectual capital there. 20 vacation days. Small relocation bonus. Some opportunity for working remotely.

    Cons

What good are all those days if you can never take them? They promise 20% bonuses to entice you to relocate there, since there is next to NO talent in Jacksonville. Then you get a 3% bonus. Don't fall for it. Disorganized management at the upper levels. No opportunity for advancement. Bosses are indifferent to your efforts. No adequate direction in how to do your job so your efforts are wasted when you do your job and bosses make you start all over due to a new rule. Lots of politics and some annoyingly nosy team members. LOTS of turnover be it doesn't take long for the smarter people to realize morale sucks and leave.

    Advice to Management

Top level down reorganization would be a good idea. Middle managers need to help their people advance, not encourage stagnation. Some directors are NOT qualified to be directors.

    Pros

Awesome benefits! Great pay! The Cary location is really investing in creating a community. There are employee engagement groups that work hard to make this a great place to work! I am working in cutting edge technologies and the company seems to want to invest in their employees and in employee retention. The office space is very nice including an onsite cafe and gym.

    Cons

There is less flexibility than in most tech companies I have worked for. At the Cary location, you can work from home on occasion, when necessary, but most people are in the office most days. It is a bank. As should be expected, there are security and process requirements that can impede your job efficiency.

    Advice to Management

More work from home flexibility would be nice.

    Pros

The people are nice for the most part. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Technology is horrible. They have a poor infrastructure and don't seem to want to fix it. Comp is terrible and they don't give raises. So what u make coming in will be what u make when u leave.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people that make a difference. DB has become a revolving door and senior management doesn't seem to have a clue. Spend on technology and you will see the benefits in every other area. The firm seems to be penny wise and pound foolish. DB spends a ton of money to bring in consulting firms to analyze what's wrong and if the just listened to their employees they would know what is wrong. Very top heavy and too many chiefs and not enough indians.

  8. Helpful (1)

Very silo thinking approach. Information sharing is limited. To many management changes and political red tape.

    Pros

Close to home. Paycheck on time.

    Cons

Promise new employees that the next level will be achievable; however, this does not happen. No metrics in place to achieve those results. No work life balance. All good employees leaving, and constant turn over. Sr. Management don't communicate effectively; manage by scare tactics. Also for minorities, very limited career potentials.

    Advice to Management

Bring in managers who have worked their way up locally and not from thee regions of the world.

  9. Great place to get started, grow and develop a career in Leveraged Finance.

    Pros

Rewarding commercial/ investment bank to work for. Employees work with a sense of ownership of the firm.

    Cons

Promotions take longer. More responsibilities may not be accompanied by more resource allocations. Challenging working environment at times.

    Advice to Management

Messages from top executives sometimes do not address key concerns of middle management.

    Pros

Entrepreneurial environment. Still growth in many businesses. Could really turn around with the right regional management and some hands on leadership

    Cons

Weak leadership and highly political. Very little diversity in several businesses. Management openly undermine new and upcoming women leaders. Needs to introduce a culture of accountability and consequence from the top down. Still in boys club mode which will continue to get them into trouble as a firm. NY is worse then other regions

    Advice to Management

Diversity should be an important element in management. Clear mandates and a path to success is in everyone's best interest and makes for a better quality of work. HR should play a more active role to educate management about unconscious bias and introduce a environment of accountability and consequence. I would steer away talent from DB for these reasons at the present but believe the platform could be stellar with the right people at the helm in NA
