I have been working at Deutsche Bank CIB full-time

    Pros

Awesome benefits! Great pay! The Cary location is really investing in creating a community. There are employee engagement groups that work hard to make this a great place to work! I am working in cutting edge technologies and the company seems to want to invest in their employees and in employee retention. The office space is very nice including an onsite cafe and gym.

    Cons

There is less flexibility than in most tech companies I have worked for. At the Cary location, you can work from home on occasion, when necessary, but most people are in the office most days. It is a bank. As should be expected, there are security and process requirements that can impede your job efficiency.

    Advice to Management

More work from home flexibility would be nice.

the competitive environment makes everyone to make all effort to excel. people there in general are quite nice and professional. The dress formal is quite good to work there.

    Cons

the organization up-down structure with local and Europe leadership is confusing.

reduce the leverage and increase the capital

I worked at Deutsche Bank CIB full-time

    Pros

    - Highly entrepreneurial - Challenging/interesting work - Good salary and benefits

    Cons

    - Highly political environment: pick mentor(s) who are well-regarded and know their way around the organization - Highly bureaucratic environment: need to go through a lot of hoops to get things done/approved; only gotten worse with onset of external regulatory forces (a lot tougher to get things done) - Sharp elbows among colleagues: at the end of the day, everyone is out for themselves and wanting to maximize their comp at year-end. (I should note that the above all all pretty common to most, if not all, investment banks)

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Deutsche Bank CIB full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Autonomy to run with ideas - Broad resources - Easy access to customers - Collegiate environment - Given rope to take projects as far as you can

    Cons

    - Cuts are brutal - Actively shrinking coverage - On the forefront of re-aligning comp to be shareholder friendly - Year end review process completely meaningless and an enormous waste of time

    Advice to Management

    - Figure out and stick with a strategy - Communicate - Encourage working across groups, divisions through real fee sharing

I have been working at Deutsche Bank CIB full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They promote accountability and rely a lot on personal willingness. People passionate to the banking and financial environment can find here a very good place to enhance their performances and meet their goals.

    Cons

All the cons linked to a big/global bank: bureaucracy, inefficiencies, lack and waste of resources that, a different level, have an impact on your job and plans.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horses and look at how much value the organization, at any level, produce for the Bank. Reward in different ways their results and the way they achieve them with so many resources constraints (at least in the investment banking side). Recognize more the job done with global impacts by people located not only in UK, US or HK. Promote more the "diversity" with real actions and not only with nice words or events. Talk more to people about your (or given) plans and share the top management view.
