Pros
They encourage a team approach to work and they have a very strong CSR program
Cons
Long hours for an Intern who was also studying for an MBA
Advice to Senior Management
Perhaps cut down the hours to enable the intern to put more focus on studying.
Pros
If you get a good supporting senior manager stick close to them. They are far and few between.
Cons
Hours. So hard to work with others. Overly technical.Expectations are set too high. Management is management when it should be leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up.
Pros
True meritocracy - you work hard you get rewarded. Entrepreneurial culture, you get to try and explore. Get risk management tools in place
Cons
Bureaucratic - The NY offices did not quite have the open door policy. Management was not transparent as is the case I would imagine at other investment banks
Pros
Benefits package
CSR
Name
Internal job mobility is promoted
Global presence, opportunities available to work in most key deutsche bank hubs
Cons
Poor senior management - Severe lack of direction, some are promoted not on merit but on who they know.
Worryingly, there are some senior managers, especially in technology who are protected by senior MD's. This "allows" them to behave in any manner they wish, resulting in a bullying culture and some very talented people leaving the bank.
Difficult Promotion process - Although in technology there is a more structured promotion process, the management in charge are not always the right people to make the right decisions. Promotions should be based on meritocracy and the persons ability to work at that level. I agree that a SME that struggles to work with others is a difficult candidate to promote and justifiaby needs to improve this aspect if they are to be promoted.
There are many examples of employees who get promoted based on length of service, surely something any tier 1 investment bank should not do if they are to remain competitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employess.
Look after your talent before they leave.
Stop protecting senior\middle management that are obviously not fit for the roles they do
Pros
One of the best reasons to work at Deutsche Bank is their benefits package.
Cons
One of the downsides of working at Deutsche Bank is the old school, all boys mentality that still exists.
Advice to Senior Management
Look beyond senior management for guidance.
Pros
The pay package is good and out of chaos opportunities can arise.
Cons
A process for everything (usually several duplicate processes) but few effective processes.
Pros
Extremely talented group of bankers
Cons
Not a good work/life balance
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up.
Pros
Great colleagues, generous maternity and leave policy
Cons
Depending on the division, a fair level of chauvinism, "old boy" networks and some level of derision from Europe
Pros
Great working environment with interesting people from different backgrounds and culture.
Better than expected work life balance, considering the job nature.
Deutsche bank offers lots of job mobility to its employees
Cons
Work invested into the company often not properly rewarded and recognized by the management.
Salary structure not on par with other countries (especially U.S.) considering that the work load is higher.
Pros
Mobility is important for keeping talented people within the firm and Deutsche practices that philosophy unlike some of its competitors
Benefits are excellent- vacation time, work-life balance, working mother options, volunteering events, etc
Cons
In the last few years, many jobs have been relocated off-shore/near-shore to service centers.
Base salaries are not adjusted to bring employees in line with the market; therefore, sometimes people are forced to leave to see a measurable increase in pay. Loyalty to the firm is not rewarded.
