Great plac eto get your career going

    Analyst - Technology (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

    Pros- Nice Co-workers
    - Nice salads in the cafeteria
    - They recognize and support talented people
    - Quite diverse in the lower ranks

Cons- Lack of diversity as you move up
    - A lot of administrative overhead in getting things done
    - Difficult on-boarding process

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen up to the way modern companies like Google treat their employees. Good health / financial benefits is not all we need. Provide spaces to take naps, give free healthy lunches, start a gym in the office, etc. There are many things you could improve on in this regard.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood management strategy in troubled times

ConsBureaucratic HR processes; followed by poor / rushed communications

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement handling of the company approach during the financial crisis has been right on the money - DB one of the few banks that made it through (relatively) unscathed

DB - a solid place to work.

    Vice President (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsDB is a seemingly great comany. Senior managment takes its role to develop strategy and communicate to employees very seriously. Generally impressed with the people who I work with or interact with. Compensation is on par or better and the benefits are the best that I have experienced. Lastly, the company takes diversity very seriously.

ConsDB however is a massive firm with over 78k employees. Trying to progress through a firm of this size is difficult without having a great network or through nepotism.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up.

Friendly place, but lack of structure.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsCollegial, relaxed atmosphere, down-to-earth. Very global focus. You can have a really good experience if you're in the top groups.

ConsFeedback/evaluation system and compensation scheme are unrelated. There is a lack of structure here for developing junior resources and little to no career development for mid-level people--your basically on your own to learn on the job.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompel MDs to care about junior resource development and get involved in it. Most of them are hands off and solely focused on clients not franchise building.

Overall, positive experience at Deutsche Bank.

    Business Analyst (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsDeutsche Bank is a good company to work for many reasons. Their compensation (401K, Time off, flexibility, Medical benefits) are quite good. In addition, the atmosphere is quite friendly and relaxed. During my time at the bank, I made a lot of friends and gained a lot of useful knowledge and experience that I will be able to take with me into my next career.

ConsI personally did not have many negative experiences within the Bank. The only downside I did witness was that it was difficult to move up to a higher job title. It normally took years before upper management would promote you. Instead, the Bank was often content to higher someone outside the company for a position versus promoting from within.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy only advice would be to promote employees to a higher position before looking to fill the role outside the Bank. Asking a DB employee to wait years to be promoted versus filling the position with someone from another company should be reviewed.

Deutsche Bank - a good place to acquire skills for use at another company!

    Associate- Asset Management (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

    Pros- tuition reimbursement
    - tons of pto
    - looks good on resume
    - inexpensive health care
    - overall excellent benefits package
    - a good place to gain experience for use at other companies

    Cons- miles of red tape
    - management does not trust employees - they literally have to know where you are and what you are doing at all times. I witnessed managers looking through cracks in bathroom stalls to find a person. They keep files with records of when employees come and go throughout the day.
    - DB does not empower it's employees - they don't trust their people to get the job done without extreme micromanagement.
    - management seems incapable of making effective, timely, decisions.
    - dated, 30 year old systems supported by inept IT support (tata consulting)
    - Deutsche Bank was involved with the Nazi's
    - inconsistent review procedures and expectations
    - if you are not tight with your boss you will go nowhere - they will promote from outside.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpower your employees. Take more responsibility for your criminal actions of the past.
