Pros
Competent employer. Fast moving. Not everyones ideal employer as structures and information is not always clear. Need to be someone who makes an effort, finds things out and gets things done to be rewarded.
Cons
Tends to get run on a famine and feast basis in terms of investment. Investment in staff, technology etc... tends to be very up and down, which some people can find fustrating to work with.
On the other hand this is indicative of the entrepreneurial culture. Ups and downs inevitably mean that there are annual rounds of firing people.
Advice to Senior Management
On the whole, it's OK. However, work life balance is a joke. That's OK because people get paid. However, along with "we take CSR seriously", it might be better being honest than guffing aspirations that are actually lies in reality towards the majority of staff.
Pros
Good Benefits
Free Coffee
Sometimes you get free pens and coffee mugs. Whoo Hoo!
Cons
No reward for working hard
Promotions are granted based on tenure, not work ethic and results
You are not paid what college graduates should be paid.
Operations is for those who gave up on real investment banking
Advice to Senior Management
pay people a living wage and they'll stick around. Realize early who your top performers are and reward them. College grads should get paid more than 32k. Jesus!
Pros
Nice place to work, depends on group though.
Cons
Too many politics at all levels.
Advice to Senior Management
Review your policies to keep loyal and competent employees on the job.
Pros
Good recognition by management, opportunity for advancement / career development, great learning & development / training programs.
Cons
Interoffice politics, affirmative action type promotion biases, below average compensation vs peer financial institutions, high pressure environment, under-staffed
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more people or else things will slip through the cracks because of lack of capacity and demoralization.
Pros
People are enthusiastic about getting to know product innovations and promoting them with clients. Generally it's easy to get management support for your ideas if the ideas are sound. Budget rarely an issue.
Company generally hires the nicer people on the street.
Cons
A lot of processes are primitive and labour intensive.
There are many rules and regulations to keep the company out of trouble with the law. Very German, but need extra patience and creativity in problem solving to achieve your goals and stay within the confines of the rules.
Technology is outdated. Hate lotus notes.
Advice to Senior Management
all good here
Pros
Great, well respected company. Lots of things to learn. Good environment to gain solid experience.
Cons
They do not pay well for the work done.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward the ones who deserve it or they will continue to leave you your turnover will stay high.
Pros
Deutsche Bank Global Technology is undergoing transformation to create new enterprise solutions on a global scale, and the Cary development center is a key component to this transformation. This isn't a static environment with highly prescriptive roles. DBGT Cary has excellent opportunities for engineers that are driven, engaged, and supportive of change.
Cons
Engineers that are looking for highly structured, pragmatic methodology will find the environment uncomfortable. Change means that everyone needs to reach beyond their comfort zone to ensure their success.
Advice to Senior Management
Help support improvements to the software development and lab environments. Centralize common environment needs among teams to keep the engineers focused on solution design and implementation.
Pros
Supportive management who understand how to motivate and retain quality staff.
Opportunities for technical skill enhancement.
Challenging and varied work opportunities.
Cons
Occasional arbitrary decision-making.
Sometimes behind the curve technologically.
Pros
The people are very talented and work hard
The company is better at risk management than most
DB's image on the street continues to improve
Cons
DB would like to be as diversified and dynamic as JPMorgan, and internally they have merged Corporate Finance with Sales & Trading, as well as bought Postbank to help with retail purchases. However, in several banking areas, they need to seriously invest in headcount and/or acquisitions.
Advice to Senior Management
Avoid "co-head" promotions, e.g., CIB co-heads. These people are close friends with logically defined roles, eventually politics seeps into the department.
Pros
Higly posh and work friendly environment, various Corporate social Responsibilty activities, name in india for D B wch makes proud, etc
Cons
Very less pay, no promotions, very less bonus that they give, very very very very very unfair rating they give , etc
Advice to Senior Management
Please give more opportunities to graduates and help them grow, they are the more talented understand it first you seniors
