I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lean structure hence quite a lot of opportunities to take charge as wish which enables you to work directly with senior staff for the most part

    Cons

Not a whole lot of junior development in place. Average training from HR and down to team level.

    Advice to Management

People is everything in banking. Ability to retain talent is key in service industry.

I worked at Deutsche Bank as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

DB put a lot of efforts to shape a great culture. At least in Asia, it is the most ethical bulge bucket bank. When JP Morgan and other U.S. banks are associated with sons / daughters of Chinese officials and are in trouble with corruption, DB is never part of it. It also runs the Corporate Banking business in China as Investment Banking.

    Cons

The company was in downtime around 2013. There are a lot of changes going on and severe budget cut. Even reasonable and important expense was cut.

    Advice to Management

Keep the current culture stay solid.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

very flexible truly global company dynamic work environment in which change is the only constant

    Cons

very political and at times not trustworthy leadership everything is about money, so programs like cultural change are just a poor cover up and not worth the paper it is written on

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice working environment and office. Stable place for careers, low turn over on people. Offer much internal opportunities but it totally based on your boss decision.

    Cons

    - Extremely outdated in house system - Year end compensation not totally related to your working performance but depends on the boss own feeling on you - Hire expensive senior people with no actual benefits but created more problem - Selfish colleagues and they are only nice to boss or senior - Bad working culture, don't expect any value-added task or training. - IT never solve your problem but just tell you that's the problem - No salary increment for many years

    Advice to Management

Totally no transparency on management. Team head totally not fair and make sense to all staff.

  8. Good culture, let down somewhat by 'revolving door' middle management and disruptive re-orgs

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salaries are broadly in line with industry peers Good culture with respect to social events; corporate social responsibility Work life balance often viewed better than US peers Senior management strategy is clear and good however sometimes diluted by middle management political agendas

    Cons

Stack ranking rating system is often applied at too small a sample set and can be catastrophic for morale and increases turnover of high performers It is an organisation where often perception and visibility can be more important for career growth than delivery Senior management mistrust of middle management can result in an overly bureaucratic culture where even tiny things require an excess of management level approval

    Advice to Management

Listen to people on the ground, remove further layers of ineffective middle management Rate staff based on delivery, reduce internal politics Increase accountability and responsibility; allow the right people to make the right decisions

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

DB has a great graduate training program, with very structured training material and classes with rotations on various desks and great people who manage the whole program. Lots of smart and very capable people working in the bank.

    Cons

Sometimes there are some limitations on the IT side of things in terms of infrastructure investment and sometimes there appears to be a lot of internal competitions between people for business etc - but that may be expected of any bank

    Advice to Management

    I think having more personal growth would be very beneficial with courses for personal training, development and growth; management programs etc;
