I have been working at Deutsche Bank as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great company to work at. Worked as a consultant in IT for a year. Pay was in line with market standards. This company is very into their human capital and is committed to career advancement and retaining talent. Direct management very aware of potential challenges within the bank and are quick to focus on avoiding disruption.

    Cons

This large organization is constantly changing. This often shifts priorities of management and changes objectives to where it is difficult to maintain progress on current projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create consistency in management without reorganizing every few months.

NY IT all about cost/headcount cutting

I worked at Deutsche Bank as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Perhaps if the company / IT org gets turned around.

    Cons

Observation of a recent contractor and former employee. Bare bones IT headcount while an increase in the amount of IT governance and regulatory policies to be followed. Outsourcing of everything is not always effective. Hard work with a view toward doing the right thing is sometimes overshadowed or trumped by politics and not valued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can't create an environment that's all about cost reduction and also say you are (or want to be) an "employer of choice".

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They usually try to do the right thing (the trading scandals aside). The company is progressive. If you end up in a good niche in the company, you can learn a lot and benefit in your career.

    Cons

It is a troubled institution right now and not a very fun place to work. There are not a lot of good managers, just individuals who worked their way up the ladder through outlasting other employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lack of good management can create a sense of "doesn't anybody know what they're doing around here?". I understand you are a bank and control is important, but the bureaucracy is stifling and very counterproductive.
