Pros
One of the best reasons to work at Deutsche Bank is their benefits package.
Cons
One of the downsides of working at Deutsche Bank is the old school, all boys mentality that still exists.
Advice to Senior Management
Look beyond senior management for guidance.
Pros
The company is large and well-respected. They offer great benefits, very generous maternity leave. I felt very well taken-care-of by the company. I never saw any discrimination or unfair treatment of employees. Everyone behaved professionally, in my experience.
Cons
I really don't have any problem with the company itself. The only problems I had were the usual complaints about co-workers and a few managers I'd had over the years. The manager I had when I left the company was terrific, so I can't really complain.
Advice to Senior Management
Please stop forcing people to share cubicles. It's humiliating enough to be stuck in a cubicle, but it's bearable if you have your own space. Even if it's four square feet. Sharing a cubicle is demoralizing.
Pros
True meritocracy - you work hard you get rewarded. Entrepreneurial culture, you get to try and explore. Get risk management tools in place
Cons
Bureaucratic - The NY offices did not quite have the open door policy. Management was not transparent as is the case I would imagine at other investment banks
Pros
Great colleagues, generous maternity and leave policy
Cons
Depending on the division, a fair level of chauvinism, "old boy" networks and some level of derision from Europe
Pros
Nice people make the place livable, the pay is great as an investment bank, the company is pretty solid in comparison to peers, and it is still growing with a good reputation.
Cons
Incredibly harsh work hours, work life balance is out the door and different between employees, so it is a roll of a dice.
Advice to Senior Management
Please allow your analysts to live an acceptable life, and make sure that work is distributed evenly throughout the bank.
Pros
Nice place to work, depends on group though.
Cons
Too many politics at all levels.
Advice to Senior Management
Review your policies to keep loyal and competent employees on the job.
Pros
Very reputable name to have on the resume
Definitely valuable, great experience
Offer flexible work environment
Global experience with very talented people
short term project cycles allow you to see results right away
Cons
very hierarchical, you get respect based on your level of seniority
closed environment in terms of access to information that is provided on a need to know basis
Advice to Senior Management
make sure to communicate strategic goals to your teams in a personal way for clarity and motivation rather than just as a hard deliverable with no background.
Pros
Has a very liberal vacation policy
Nice offices
Top tier bank makes it a good resume booster
They pay for after work sports
Cons
The compensation is unfair and unbalanced
Upper management is extremely poor
Very little mobility
Everyone analyst to VP seems unhappy
Advice to Senior Management
Pay people more money, and cut excess slack
Build a better organized team structure
Offer mobility, don't silo divisions
Reward success
Pros
Salary, Development, Mangement - top notch!
Cons
Hours can be long. Not too easy to move between divisions.
Pros
Good people, challenging work without too much pressure, competitive compensation.
Cons
The IT systems could be better
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the IT systems
