Pros
Hours are not bad and people are very nice.
Cons
Very difficult to move.
Promotions notbased on performance but length of time.
People are still left over from Bankers trust and very under qualifid
Not your typical investment banking environment very laxed and unprofessional at times
The bonus structure is not what it use to be.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your top performers
Pros
Deutsche Bank itself is a top three investment bank and is a great resume builder
Benefits are great
Managing Directors and Management are accessible for questions and information
Depending on business of broker you work with, job can be extremely diverse, high pressured, and a great challenge
Cons
Being a Sales Associate is a dead end position, so make sure you love what you do and who you work with
Promotion within the firm from this role is difficult and not necessarily encouraged
Brokers do not always respect the associate role and the amount of work actually involved.
Advice to Senior Management
make sure sales associates are being treated well by their brokers.... and if not, do not threaten their employment, try to pair them up with someone who they are more compatible with.
Pros
Team-oriented, good location, happy employees
Cons
Difficult to use intrajob listings, hard to find advancement for junior level employees
Advice to Senior Management
Keep high-performing team members
Pros
There are opportunities in the right areas and the employees in the organization are good easy to work with.
Cons
DB has taken way too long to invest in there infrastructure. We are using system software that has not been updated since the 90's.
Advice to Senior Management
You will spend less in the long run if you put money into the various systems instead of just throwing more and more people at the problems.
Pros
One of the biggest committed market maker - good information from the desks when they are willing to share. Good exposure to institutional investors
Cons
VERY inorganized. Penny pinching to the extreme where work process is interrupted. Information sharing seems optional at times, even when it is for the greater good of the company. Short change their employees by hiring them through an outsource consulting firm to maintain a minimum headcount.
Advice to Senior Management
Value and invest in the human resources of the company, rather than just looking at the bottom line by cutting cost.
Pros
Global, largely non-political, no state aid
Cons
In investment banking sometimes difficult to find the right work life balance.
Not the best payer when compared to peers.
Advice to Senior Management
Readjust the feedback from annually to semi-annually. Do better work with the press to polish the apperance from the outside.
Pros
Good work environment, friendly, and easy going corporate atmosphere.
Great overall benefits, including health, maternity leave & vacation / personal time off
Promotes educational advancements
Cons
Salaries seem to be lower than other large banks, and top competitors. Some employees are over worked for the amount paid.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees would be much happier if they were recognized for their hard work and achievements. DB would also retain more talented individuals if they were competitively compensated.
Pros
--Great Pay
--Good vision by senior management
--Global presence
--Incredible place to start your career through their graduate program
--People with diverse backgrounds
--Business understands the value of technology
--Mobility encouraged and promoted
--Spends money for social causes
--Great benefits
--More vacation time than you can spend
Cons
--Senior management comes up with brilliant ideas, but picks morons to implement them
--Middle management (VP/Director) level is full of nasty politics
--Complete lack of diversity in upper management (mostly male and white)
Advice to Senior Management
Seriously...take a look at the middle management. We are moving away from focusing on the job and getting more into nasty politics. Vision in the right direction, but the middle management has too many incompetent managers. Other than that...thanks for making DB's technology group such a great place to work.
Pros
- Nice Co-workers
- Nice salads in the cafeteria
- They recognize and support talented people
- Quite diverse in the lower ranks
Cons
- Lack of diversity as you move up
- A lot of administrative overhead in getting things done
- Difficult on-boarding process
Advice to Senior Management
Open up to the way modern companies like Google treat their employees. Good health / financial benefits is not all we need. Provide spaces to take naps, give free healthy lunches, start a gym in the office, etc. There are many things you could improve on in this regard.
Pros
Good Employer and many benefits.
Cons
Small mentality, not alot of room for growth. More oversight and policies and procedures than you'll find anywhere else....probably ever. Admittedly, its important but it can be stifling.
Advice to Senior Management
I think its important that they see above comments, and try a little harder at promoting growth of people to other areas once the glow has worn off in one area of interest.
