Pros
Did well through the crisis, lots of money being poured into tech and electronic trading. Street recognition / reputation way up in last few years because of this effort.
Cons
We are taking globalization of support to ridiculous levels. Outsourcing critical tech jobs is materially hurting us. Seems to come and go as senior mgt changes. Current mgt outsources as an easy way to save money. Next mgt will see that it doesn't work and localized key teams. And the vicious cycle continues.
Pros
Stable workplace, good reputation. Good development opportunities
Cons
Lack of leadership skills in Mid management
Advice to Senior Management
Reconise hard working employees and improve selection of leading managers
Pros
Flexibility in your work situation and remote access is great. Many colleagues work from home at least one day per week-this is great for working parents. There are many great programs relating to cultural diversity that promote and enhance a very inclusive environment for staff.
Cons
DB has the potential to be an exceptional environment for real growth and development, however there is way to go before that becomes a reality. Current management changes, ongoing upheaval and outsourcing makes this difficult. This puts undue stress on staff who are looking for guidance and direction.
Advice to Senior Management
perhaps triaining for managers so that they actually can properly guide the careers of motivated employees as opposed to selecting only "high potential" candidates towards increased responsibilities and growth.
Pros
Global presence decent technology decent trading floor
Cons
Overall compensation was on the weak side
Advice to Senior Management
None none none none. None
Pros
They paid up to bring in good talent and they always were bringing in league table topping traders and sales desks.
Cons
Mercenary culture. Everyone came in for the money and they will all leave for $5 more elsewhere. No opportunity for advancement or promotion. Only a stepping stone to the next job. Dead end. Toxic management. Snake pit.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your heads examined. You have created a hell hole to work in and a horrible place with enormous turnover.
Pros
Good training classes and on the job learning
Cons
Poor bonuses and promotions from within
Advice to Senior Management
Promote from within and pay them market.
Pros
You can learn as much as possible "within" the group/department. Great benefit package. Most of my managers have been understanding and handling difficult situations well.
Cons
Had a different manager almost every year hence it is not easy to transfer to a different group.
Pros
This is a prestigious organization that has done fairly well during the crisis. When calling on customers, they instantly recognize the quality of DB services.
Cons
But there are serious identity issues inthe US about what the organization wants to be. There are large rivalries between many internal groups.Getting things done across business lines wants is difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
The bank needs o break down the very entrenched silos and foster q better sense of internal cooperation. Without this, there is a senseless fight for internal resources.
Pros
Conservative and sophisticated a well respected bank with helpful management and nice people
Cons
Having to wear a suit to work every day
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
The company is large and well-respected. They offer great benefits, very generous maternity leave. I felt very well taken-care-of by the company. I never saw any discrimination or unfair treatment of employees. Everyone behaved professionally, in my experience.
Cons
I really don't have any problem with the company itself. The only problems I had were the usual complaints about co-workers and a few managers I'd had over the years. The manager I had when I left the company was terrific, so I can't really complain.
Advice to Senior Management
Please stop forcing people to share cubicles. It's humiliating enough to be stuck in a cubicle, but it's bearable if you have your own space. Even if it's four square feet. Sharing a cubicle is demoralizing.
