Pros
Very prestigious and focus on performance. The bank has a stable growth and compensation and welfare is good. People here are talented and very focused.
Cons
A little bit bureaucratic and lower level staff are not willing to voice their ideas or objections to senior management. Sometimes have to work extra hours to finish work.
Advice to Senior Management
Should promote more gender diversity in the senior management. Try to create a more comfortable environment for people to work.
Pros
There's patches of interesting things and good people, you have to seek them out but they are there. A lot of old dinosaurs though
Cons
Far too big to actually work. You'd think from the outside that an org of this size would be very impressive but when you get inside you realise that just because there's 80,000 people working here, doesn't mean the place is slick and efficient, in fact quite the opposite.
The technology is also very backward, 5 years behind the last bank I worked at and they seem reluctant ti spend any money to change that.
And don't get me started on "Matrix management" the dumbest thing I ever heard, just means you don't have a manager, everything decided by committee, its just great!!
Advice to Senior Management
Slim down the management, I need 1 manager not 4
Pros
Deutsche Bank has a structured Internship program that lets you learn and contribute at the same time. You are usually assigned a mentor who will assign you a project for the summer internship. You are given responsibilities you would normally have if you were working at DB which is great.
Very smart people , very relaxed atmosphere my mentor was great to me even though he was quite senior in the bank so it was nice.
Cons
Competitive , friendly rivalry for top spots. I also think that the human resources department is lacking in terms of being co-ordinate in assessing new interns.
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Results-driven, quality and not quatity.
Family-oriented.
Cons
High Pressure and delicate.
Needs better dissemination of information.
Advice to Senior Management
Take note.
Pros
Its a great place to work at. Brilliant minds all around you. If you join as an analyst, you go though an almost vertical learning curve. There is really tons to learn. So you have to be sure you are prepared for a career in finance. Every individual in the bank gets a lot of responsibility. Even as an analyst you work in a small team of 4-5 and become an expert in whatever task you have been entrusted with. Its a great place for personal development.
Cons
Cutthroat competition. You have to be at the top of your job. No room for error.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing as such.
Pros
Very dynamic organization- rapid pace of change and development. Very good at innovation. Led by a bunch of smart people specially on the glabal markets side. Good strategy to sustain in the long run.
Cons
Highly silo'ed environment- minimal cooperation when working on cross-divisional initiatives. Poor infrastructural and control platforms- chances of a Soc-gen like scenario are not remote. Not a very structured promotion process- possible to get windfall gains from one good year's performance without the ability to sustain that performance in the long run. Low on work-life balance. Center of power largely in Frankfurt, low influence/image iN US.
Advice to Senior Management
Break down silo's. The strategy of silo's works in the rapid growth stage- but needs to be fixed in the consolidation pahse, specially when market conditions are challenging
