Pros
1. Nice location: berlin is a very nice place to work; T-labs is located near the heart of the city and the location could not have been better
2. Nice amenities
3. Wonderful supervisor
4. External researchers are invited for talks, which I think makes it easier to network with senior researchers in the related field
Cons
1. I wish there was more enthusiasm among junior researchers to network with the seniors in the filed.
Somehow I felt that the communication was lacking.
Advice to Senior Management
1. I would love to see more technical support from the IT department in terms of service given to the employees
Pros
good perks, easy going environment
Cons
triangular hiarchy, issues with headcount
Advice to Senior Management
keep up the good work
Pros
Good salary and benefits.
The company has ressources to invest in intesting projects.
Given the shere number of employees, you will surely find like minded colleagues.
Cons
Decision making can be slow, but what would you expect from such a big company. Top management turnover means that they are sometimes out of touch with the base of the company. Image problems and scandals make it hard to be a proud employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate more actively with middle management about company plans, especially with management outside of headquarters. Take professional development more seriously and promote from within.
Pros
the service plan benefits are fantastic coupled with the 5 weeks PTO a year for full time employees and all benefits for PT with 2 weeks PTO makes it a great place to work
Cons
it's being purchased by a competitor
Advice to Senior Management
don't sell us
Pros
Good level of empowerment, dealing with leading edge technolgies and networks, an excellent salary package, good mid term management incentive plan, and a great place to live. Many employees are motivated to do the right thing for the customer. DT has moved from being "subscriber" focused to Customer Advocates. This has resulted in putting the Customer First and trying to give each customer the best experience no matter what service they are using.
Cons
There are still many people who think and act as though DT is still a state run monopoly. Unfortunately this creates the wrong attitude and diminsihes the motivation of the younger and innovative workforce. For those people who want to hold on to the old mindset they should move on to civil service jobs outside of DT.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay in touch with the reality of the marketplace, streamline your organization, eliminate the politics, and continue to lead technology innovation. Don't be afraid to make bold decisions which will make DT a better company in the long run.
Pros
- nice colleagues
- good knowledge
- professional
- relatively good pay
- work-life-balance (at most times, but not at all times)
Cons
- few opportunities to advance
- large tanker
- not as nimble as smaller company
- location is not very interesting
Advice to Senior Management
Improve innovation culture
Pros
Work / Life Balance leans clearly in favour of the 'life' component
Decent benefits package
Cons
Not particularly challenging
No accountability for decisions or performance
Performance culture very lacking meaning that there is litte incentive for driven, motivated calibers
Advice to Senior Management
The soft stuff is the hard stuff - get performance management right and an accountability and performance culture will develop. The rest will follow.
Pros
The job itself is very stable.
Cons
Only focus on local market
Advice to Senior Management
Try outside local market
Pros
Great starting salary
Secure, i.e. you almost work for the German government
Cons
After the last reorg PARANOID
Not a lot of grow opportunities as there is too much management layering
Very micro managed
Politics are the norm
Advice to Senior Management
I feel for you, it is hard to change such a huge and inflexible company
Pros
Number 1 Telco in Germany
Cons
SLow in adption to changes
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees and their opinions
