I have been working at Deutsche Telekom full-time

    Pros

safe job, options for exciting challenges

    Cons

wide parts of Deutsche Telekom are jobs with no option for development. Nearly all units in Germany are "German" (by mind set and language). Even those in the headquarter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

change culture to better recognition of employees no matter what job they are doing. Give normal employees more freedom to make decisions in their daily work. Reduce complexity of procedures and work-flow. Reduce level of management. Make employees proud to work for the company.

I have been working at Deutsche Telekom as an intern

    Pros

Good brand, high company recognition outside, trainings and networking events for interns, growing number of international employees, probably best service provider in Germany.

    Cons

Too hierarchical thus less room for own initiatives, too much politics, some team leaders lack of leadership skills, poor talent retention even though they invest in paying for university studies but low chance to get hired. For externals it is extremely hard to get inside. Although there are lot of employees who are not doing good job, but can't be (or too expensive) fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve in internationalizing the company, loosen the rules for hiring young, innovative and fresh people, select the right people for leadership roles or at least give meaningful training for them.

    budget
    travel
    freedom
    vacation time
    support
    teamwork
    positive environment

    Cons

There aren't really too many downsides to working at Deutsche Telekom. One challenge is having to deal with colleagues based in the European time zone.

    I worked at Deutsche Telekom

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits.
The company has ressources to invest in intesting projects.
Given the shere number of employees, you will surely find like minded colleagues.

    Cons

Decision making can be slow, but what would you expect from such a big company. Top management turnover means that they are sometimes out of touch with the base of the company. Image problems and scandals make it hard to be a proud employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more actively with middle management about company plans, especially with management outside of headquarters. Take professional development more seriously and promote from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The soft stuff is the hard stuff - get performance management right and an accountability and performance culture will develop. The rest will follow.
