I worked at Development Counselors International full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fully invested in all full-time staff. Was able to start here as an intern and continue on full-time immediately.

    Cons

Compared to other agencies client load is not bad, but some can be demanding of time and investment.

I worked at Development Counselors International as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    - Integrated interns into the team. Interns were able to work closely with and learn from a supervisor. Bi-weekly learning sessions were beneficial.
    - Interesting work--there's a lot to learn in economic development.
    - Gain relevant experience and skills for an entry-level gig.

    Cons

    - The assignments are neither challenging nor stimulating. I learned to stretch out the time I spent completing assignments because I'd have nothing to do otherwise.
    - Pay is below minimum wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more responsibilities and challenging assignments to interns. Pay them a fair wage, especially if they're recent college graduates.

I have been working at Development Counselors International full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Summer Fridays, flexible start times, dental/vision insurance, opportunity for merit bonus annually, travel opportunities

    Cons

No HR, no PR research offering, old-school media relations practices that are hard to convince management to change, employees only gain experience on one type of client

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diversify the business beyond for more financial stability

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
