    Pros

Good company to get early career experience.

    Cons

It is an engineering firm first and foremost. The architecture arm of Dewberry has tons of talented people, but it struggles to really develop into a top rate firm because corporate is ambivalent / out of touch with its needs.

    Pros

Dewberry is large enough that you can have opportunities to grow.

    Cons

As in any larger company, the conditions vary from division to division and even within the divisions. It all depends on the manager. Some are very good and others are very bad. Unfortunately, upper management seems oblivious to poor managers and rank and file moral. As long as the money is coming in and they get their bonuses, there’s no reason to change anything.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the people that actually do the work. Senior leadership needs to get anonymous feedback about senior managers and middle managers and act on that feedback. Bad managers are driving off good people.

    Pros

It was close to where I lived so my commute wan't bad. First impression was good but that's a trap!

    Cons

This company lacks professionalism. Managers don't give you credit for any good work, not even a thanks. Favoritism is big in this mom-pop company. There is one owner which means no sense of competition. Competitive professionals come here and run away in no time. You don't get raises every year like most other engineering firms. If in 2-3 yrs they will give you a raise, they will tell you that they had to take it away from one of your team members and that you have to start working hard now - as if you weren't already. Once you get your PE, they don't give any raise, again unlike most companies. They play by the rules that if you stay here as long as you want without raises and when you will ask for raise, you will either get fired soon or you will leave by yourself because you found a better job. So I found a better job and got a 30% raise! Yay!

    Advice to Management

They are not worth my advice.

    Pros

They made it sound like I was getting hired into a family environment. They were giving me training opportunites I not not recieved with my past employeer, who I was with for 9 years.

    Cons

I was, completely out of the blue, fired one day. I had never had an evaluation. I was brought in half way thru a project that was horribly over budget and I was let go. The person training me was the persons whose job I was taking over. It seemed like a conflict. That person is still an employee there.

    Advice to Management

This office used to be its own small company. I would suggest that if Dewberry wants this office to reflect their company they make them follow protocol. A lot if higher management would conveniently be out of the office when corporate was there. Seemed very strange to me.

    Pros

Entry level employees can gain lots of experience. Which will help them land their next job or help them decide what they want to do next. Good place to start.

    Cons

Even though they offer and encourage training for career growth. Once you finish the training they do not seem to value it or encourage their employees to grow in the company.
