Pros
Very good package with alot of PTO. very professional environment. Very nice benefit in terms of 401k and PTO. nice place to work for.
Cons
very demanding attorneys - makes it very hard for the administrative staff to support. Everything will be expected to be perfect.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior leadership should attempt to share more information regarding the state of the firm with IT administrative staff more often.
Pros
Salary was on par with other firms.
Cons
Terrible work environment. Feedback never given to attorneys.
Pros
Salary is decent, Benefits begins as soon as your start your employment.
Cons
Upper Management is disorganize, and disconnected with their fellow staff.
Advice to Senior Management
When a worker is being accused their shoud always be a fair investigation.
Pros
I am very happy at Dewey & LeBoeuf. The pay is excellent, but hte work is demanding. It is what you expect out of life at a big firm
Cons
Lack of overall respect from the partners. You work hard every day, but you are still treated as if they can't trust you.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people who are good attorneys rather than those that simply bill a lot of hours. I know you need a balance, but good management style needs to count more than it does now.
Pros
Big firm; diverse staff; relaxed and informal work environment; full access to supplies; lunch room in the building; opportunies for overtime
Cons
3 years salary freeze; major downsizing; passive/aggressive management; does not manage money well; done nothing to really boost low employee moral; completely exposed work stations (no privacy);
Advice to Senior Management
Stand firm on decisions; reward and acknowlege your employees for their efforts above and beyond; improve problem solving skills; tighten up the budget and stop spending money so freely so that there can be bonuses and/o increases.
Pros
Good compensation, benefits, and interesting work (at least in the New York and D.C. offices); reasonably good computer technology and software.
Cons
Lack of communication; no clear path or timeline for advancement to partner; lack of meaningful feedback and review on work; domestic offices other than New York and D.C. seem to be in constant jeopardy of being shut down on a whim.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a clear path to partnership and constant feedback for associates on work performed (not just biannual reviews that are a cover for economic layoffs and which provide no meaningful feedback).
Pros
Great peers, adequate work environment
Cons
Lots of office politics, upper management seems out of touch with staff
Advice to Senior Management
Try to listen more to what employees are really saying
Pros
good benefits, and a paycheck
Cons
if you like being treated like the s**it under someones shoe please work here. they are the cheapest law firm i hve ever worked at and recently changed their overtime policy to get away with paying ppl less money. they work you harder than a slave, treat you horribily and expect you to walk around with a smile on your face singing their praises. If you like working for insecure bipolar maniacs by all means work here
Advice to Senior Management
just bs someone is an attorney doesn't mean they can treat staff however they choose. attorneys are humans as well.
Pros
Balance of family and work life
Cons
Some leaders are not competent as managers or legal professionals
Advice to Senior Management
Demand accountability from all managers and spend more time grooming future leaders
