Pros
Diageo is a great place to work. Co workers are professional and courteous. I like the constant interface with the global markets where our brands feature. Management is suberb and competent
Cons
Downsides are the office politics that play in every environment. We are very strict with ethics and compliance and this can often be a challenge particularly as we play in the Nigerian market
Pros
Growing company, global heritage, great brands, lots of passion, great salary and compensation. Despite global heritage, company is a challenger so lots of innovation, new ways to tackle market place issues which makes it exciting
Cons
Low tolerance of ambiguity, hectic targets. Given the nature of business in India, senior management sometimes try to shy away from ambiguity rather than embrace it. This also impacts expecations
Advice to Senior Management
You've got a good company and a good bunch of people. Just set the expectations right and growth will continue strongly
Pros
Salary , great brands and heritage
Cons
two words which are bastradised in diageo india is leadership and strategy and both are missing big time
HR dept. is non existant , they only work as hiriing managers/recruiters
Advice to Senior Management
In 2009 compnay did a restructuring and asked 70 odd people to go and in 2011-12 60+ people left on their own ( July to Jan). please take out some time and do some introspection and try to find out why people are leaving
Pros
Good Salaries to begin with only.
Good Brands
Cons
Poor leadership in India
Favoritism in promotion
Poor direction
Lots of corruption by sales in dealing with customers-misappropriation of funds in civil and defence businesses.
Poor HR practices-untrained and inexperienced HR managers in job.
Poor annual increments.
Poor systems.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep your eyes open to events/incidents that are happening in India. Employees are leaving in big way. Find out the reasons. There is rampant corruption and lack of employee engagement.
Pros
Great brands, good comp and benefits.
Cons
Little upward mobility outside HQ, lack of clear direction, frequent Mgmt turnover and org restructures.
Advice to Senior Management
Demonstrate respect and empathy for employees.
Pros
Management style is very supportive, company host many great employee entertainment events, generous study leave and support. Salary is in line with industry, and overall good commumications throughout the company.
Cons
Location is out of town and parking is rerstricted in Park Royal despite it being out of town.
Nothing else to say for con.
Advice to Senior Management
Try and provide more opportunity to shadow managment at a higher level, and cross department secondments. Take steps to ensure employee retention.
Pros
Diageo has a great work life balance. For the majority of roles, there are great perks that are not quantifiable, such as leaving early on Fridays, working from home, time off flexibility and overall stress free work environment. Additionally, as much as you would like to drive your career, Diageo can support you.
Cons
It is sometimes very difficult to navigate. There is a feeling of a larger corporation and sometimes a lack of impact you can make in the future of the company.
Pros
Fun environment, nice office space, free parking, benefits were pretty good. Pay was ok but defintely not competitive. Work/life balance ok.
Cons
Very poor communication, completely incompetent managers, very political, you must drink the kool aid and play the game to survive, lay offs every year, don't feel valued. There is no trust. You won't last long if you're smart- you will be seen as a threat.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be more communication both globally and regionally. Stop wasting money. Re-assess management- very top heavy and too many incompetent managers/directors/VPs.
Pros
Great PlaceTo Work, Benchmark in the industry, 3 Consumer goods sales force in every market we operate. Brand passion and Inspirational liderships
Cons
Extreme movility, lack Regional facilities, lack of medium managers leadership, lack in infraestructure and also great opportunities in creating HR talent.
Advice to Senior Management
keep the great place to work!! and the entusiasm in the brands, and the state of the art trainee programs.
Pros
much scope for personal growth, friendly and supportive staff at all sites, historical and nationally important work in keeping the scotch whisky industry alive
Cons
many sites are small and isolated and away from the large commuter areas so not for those who want to live in the countryside!
Advice to Senior Management
converse with each other more and learn about each other's departments and how each individual department can help other areas.
