Pros
Fun environment, good benefits, shows are interesting to attend, a steady job through all economies. Overall a great place if you like comics and toys.
Cons
Better pay and cheaper insurance would be a big plus. Fewer e-mails and conferences would help people get their jobs done better.
Advice to Senior Management
Job shadow different departments to see how improvements can be made. Better raises for dedicated workers and brink back 401k contributions from the company.
Pros
It is a job, helps pay the bill, (very little help)
Cons
Have worked there since Oct. 2010,no set start time, no set hours, there is no organization. Management acts like everyday is a new challenge, when nothing really every changes. Orders that need to go out that day by 6 pm or usually not printed until after 3 pm. Time is often not given for orders to be picked, before they are reprinted again, which means double picks are being done. Supervisors and leads do nothing but play and talk all day. There is very little communication with the workers. Nothing is followed through. There is very little training and no follow-up. There is a lot of flirting going on, and very little done about it. If your in good with a Supervisor or leads, then you can stand and talk and get away with it.
Advice to Senior Management
Find someone that actually knows how to run a Distribution Center. Have a cut off time for customers to place orders that need to go out same day. Train your workers, and follow up on that training.
Pros
Flexiable when time off was needed
Laid back work environment
Management ok when it comes to subordinate work relationships depending on dept
Cons
Pay was not good vs others with my education/exper in similiar positions in other companies
No room for advancement because most positions have people in them for years not looking to move out of them
Not economic proof as indicated in one of the reviews laid off in a second wave off mass lay offs in 2009
Benefits were scaled back like 401K even free comics were cut off
Not loyal to employees so don't get too comfortable
Inter-department interaction can be daunting
No employee feedback to management in terms of surveys etc we get graded but we can't grade them
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees like you would like to treated. Be straight with them!
Pros
Free comic books, if you're into that sort of thing. Overall communication is good between most of the various departments.
Cons
Relatively low pay, some difficult departments (particularly Purchasing).
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more (either in flat pay or through better insurance subsidies) and get rid of the idiots.
Pros
If you like free comics, and you have no bills, have at it. Otherwise, you can't buy food with extra copies of Spawn.
Cons
See above. I honestly don't know how people raise families on that money. Plus, if you work in customer service, you'd probably make more money working at McDonalds, and you wouldn't have to deal with retailers with delusions of grandeur.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop acting like everyone beneath you is expendable. It's bad enough our clients consider us "the evil empire" - don't prove them correct.
