Advice to Senior Management

Fair salary
Many opportunities to commuicate with senior management
sr managament empathetic

Cons
recent reorganization due to poor economy
mid managers lacking leadership skills - yet continue to be promoted

Although downsizing was necessary, feel that it may hinder progress of some projects
Advice to Senior Management
Management is doing the best job they can possibly do considering the circumstances. For the most part I have faith in the direction senior management is leading the company.
Pros
Company really values education and training. Great opportunites for external training and expanding skill-set. Salaries and benefits are better than most companies of similar size.
Cons
Very poor communication within the company. Never felt I knew the company's direction. Employees were treated as just a number.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide greater communication to associates. Show appreciation to associates. Stop with the micro-management and over reacting. Show some loyalty to associates.
Pros
Good work / personal balance
Cons
low pay, lack of direction
Advice to Senior Management
raise pay to comparable standards, run business more like a corporation instead of a mom and pop shop
Pros
Good effort to create a positive culture
Executives are generally approachable
Strong focus on satisfying the customer
Products are pretty good and break-fix service is excellent
Cons
Senior leaders place more emphasis on getting along than making tough decisions.
Morale very low due to recent deep headcount cuts in Canton. Associate loyalty damaged.
Say they are a services company, but incentives and behaviors suggest they are still primarily a product-focused company.
Advice to Senior Management
Walk the talk when it comes to the services rhetoric
Really live the values you promote
Diversify self-service business to other industries. ATM growth is not going to be enough to satisfy investors.
Pros
Diebold is a Great company!
Cons
I am hopeful that Diebold will be in business another 150 years.
Advice to Senior Management
n/a
Pros
+ A reputable company within the financial services space
Cons
- Average tenure of employees is 20+ years
- Rewarded for being there from 9 to 5, not being innovative or productive
- Good ol' boys network of senior leadership
- Only promotes from within, so top executives have been with Diebold their ENTIRE career!
Advice to Senior Management
Be open to new ideas and embrace a cultural shift toward innovative and creative thinking. Being the biggest employer in Canton isn't cool anymore -- be the BEST.
Pros
Overall there are many talented, experienced and motivated people throughout the organization. The Associates and most in management are able to deliver excellent customer service and superior products.
Cons
The organization restructures itself often, the deck chairs are always moving. Projects are started and lose traction quickly, internal business units are very silo’d because there is little, if any, continuity.
Advice to Senior Management
You say you want to deliver Innovation but you don't seem to want to give the resources to do it. Long term growth takes a back seat to quarter over quarter profit. Get it done quick, dirty and incomplete, as long as you deliver something, then when you want to maintain or grow you can't because you don't have the capacity to do so. Overhead may walk on two feet but without it you are going to be left with an empty husk of a company.
Pros
Not much else in NE Ohio and hey one of NE Ohio's best 100 companies to work for.. must have surveyed 99 companies.
Cons
They know there isn't much competition and they pay like it, well unless your a C level exec and they pay you for being with the same company without new ideas for the last 20 years.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up your competition is competing as a commodity instead of the good old boy network
Pros
-Dynamic working environment
-Employees are very self-motivated and look for opportunities to succeed within the company
-Good company direction and leadership under current CEO
Cons
-Salaries are below par with similar positions in other companies, specifically in entry level positions. Which, in specific areas, has lead to lack of members with more than 10 years of service( lack of retention).
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on the customer and the longevity of products and services, gimmicky systems and opportunities will cost more in the long run in a service based industry.
