I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunity to be part of a tunraround; company is back on the right track and early results are good. The new culture being instilled with casual dress, flexible work remote options, etc. are very positive changes and make company feel more like the techy/progressive

    Cons

The old-line employees that are still around and complaining constantly because they just don't get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course and keep the positive changes coming.

I have been working at Diebold as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

The people are great to work with, and as long as you are responsible they keep you busy with meaningful work. There is no shortage of learning opportunities and you will gain much in the way of transferable skills.

    Cons

There are a lot instances where the workers are stuck supporting garbage software or products because someone in the past accepted shoddy work from a supplier. The amount of work expected our of the engineering department is borderline unrealistic as a result of higher ups pandering to clients and allowing them unrealistic demands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push customers to upgrade to Windows 7 and drop XP support. It will significantly lighten the workload and allow for time to do things right. A lot of the time, the fixes applied to issues that arise are "band-aids" and have adverse effects because fixing it right takes too much time.

I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Competitive salaries, some chance for growth and promotion. Management says they have a plan to turn everything around, so maybe things will get better.

    Cons

Frequent layoffs and restructuring make for an unstable, worrisome work environment. Lots of talent has left - some were pushed out and others ran for the hills.

I worked at Diebold as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay and great personal work environment. It is peaceful and structured as well, but not very much changes to be honest. The work does not seem to be fickle, and it seems to remain the same every day with not very much change.

    Cons

People are not helpful or friendly and you do not get recognized for hard work. I feel that hard work is not recognized and no other options are available for people who perform well. There are not very many opportunities to do new tasks and it seems that the same tasks are performed every day.

I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people, highly committed associates. Company has started a comprehensive transformation program that shows traction and will make Diebold a better place to work. New management is tackling issues that were ignored for a long time. Culture is changing what is very positive (new dress code in Ohio: Jeans!), communication significantly improved.

Compensation: adequate pay; just recently introduced Employee Stock Purchase Program, what is very attractive

    Cons

Company has had difficult years and is now in the midst of a multi-year transformation, therefore be prepared for lots of change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the current path and don't stop listening to the associates

I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent salary for the work you do.

    Cons

New management and how they're trying to make Diebold the next "former life" company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you announce how you want to save $50.00 per day, stop flying in from out of town each week and move to where your job is. Also, stop trying to turn Diebold EMC into the next "former life" company by hiring all former executives to key positions. Place more of an emphasis on a working and winning model you already have. Gather more employee input. Possibly a focus group.

I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

401k with some matching. Many good people to work with. Bonus plan if company hits global financial targets.

    Cons

Pay increases have been eliminated forever (or at least until another CEO is hired). If you take a position at Diebold, shoot for the maximum dollar amount. No where to advance within the company. Virtually no admin or HR support staff. Empty field offices. Lots of Chiefs (and VP's)...not enough Indians. Silos. A plethora of theoretical management at the senior levels but very few tactical managers. Bonuses only based on the corporation as a whole - no individual or team based bonuses. Sales staff is nonexistent. No plan to grow the company. Only caters to the national customer and does seem to care about the small accounts (with the highest profit).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend some time in the field. Get out of your office and get closer to the action in the field. Hire less managers and hire more boots on the ground.

I have been working at Diebold full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Employees want the company to succeed and keep each other going, instead of upper management.

    Cons

Leadership cannot pick a strategy and stick to it; it's like working for someone with multiple personalities. Corporate blatantly disrespects the field and there is such a lack of harmony and so many silos...with no regard to acknowledge or work on this. Fix the systems...we may be 154 years old, but our systems don't need to be as well. Morale is a mess and is on a downhill slide. Intranet site has never made sense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate and implement systems that truly link information between corporate & the field. You would create confidence in leadership if you would SIMPLY carry out a strategy before scrapping it and looking for a new one. If you're lacking in interpersonal skills, you don't qualify for any job! Invest in your local management w/ training & reduce their workload. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth. Fix your intranet; it's ridiculous trying to find information.

I worked at Diebold full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Unfortunately, there are not many... There is a lack of leadership and they are stripping away every incentive. I recently started and resigned immediately. The culture is not a good one. It's every man for himself and no one is willing to pitch in and help. If they think adding purple and green paint to the walls will help morale, they better think again.

    Cons

Absolutely no growth and development opportunities. Don't plan to advance. The morale is so incredibly low and everyone is so unhappy. They've recently taken away Merit increase and even that was not communicated. Certain departments are being outsourced and they had to hear about it in a press release. Please turn the other way if you have an offer with Diebold...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your people. They have so many loyal employees who have been employed with Diebold for a very, very long time. They'll leave. New hires will leave...
