I have been working at Diesel USA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For a sales associate the money is great. You make your own check.

    Cons

The company change is rules and regulations every three to four months. It lacks communication and sense of direction. It treats it's employees like puppets. The employees only follow until they figure out somewhere to go.Eventually respects is better than a paycheck. The brand itself has been trying to elevate itself but it contradicts itself by having a premium brand Diesel Black Gold along with Diesel itself having similar styles.

I worked at Diesel USA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent discount and employee clothing allowance. Laid back, cool vibe.

    Cons

Corporate in NYC forgot about our little store on Long Island, even though we constantly made and beat our sales goals. No recognition for all of our hard work. Complete lack of corporate presence. Then they closed our store location right after Christmas and only gave us one month's notice. Poor hourly pay and very low commission 3%. Holiday hours were insane. Very overworked and under-compensated employees. Very disorganized company. Nobody ever knew what they were doing at corporate. Very hard to move up within the company unless you knew someone.

I worked at Diesel USA as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The only positive thing I got out of working here was appreciating my other internships.

    Cons

As an Intern we sign up for the program in order to learn what it takes to work in the industry. I was assigned trivial tasks that were pretty much me cutting and pasting images and descriptions into a template, and building office furniture for the managers. There was very little respect for interns here. There was no organization or communication in our department, I would often come into work with no tasks and my manager not in the office for the day. Terrible experience and huge waste of the money I paid to take the Internship class.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want an Internship program, have specific guidelines to follow. We pay for the course credit to learn not to get you coffee and build your furniture. I did 2 other internships and never saw so many interns regret signing up for the program. The disappointment was throughout every department.

I have been working at Diesel USA part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great discount, great clothes, great employees who are very down-to-earth & not catty. Commission will help you with your paycheck, which makes up for the lack of an hourly wage. Great managers to work for who aren't strict. Allows you to express yourself & wear whatever you want. Lets you show off tattoos.

    Cons

Terrible pay. Wish they gave us a budget so all of the staff could go to dinner monthly rather than every year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing. You're a great company to work for.

I have been working at Diesel USA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

co-workers, clothing allowance, management PTO and benefits, more personalized dress code

    Cons

unattainable sales goals, no raise system, not enough internal hiring

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement a raise system for the people who stand out amongst others! Hiring internally needs to be focused on more. The turnover rate wouldn't be so high if just a little more effort was put into keeping the good workers. If there was even a bonus structure for associates at outlet level it would be better, though the goals aren't usually attained even for management. Also, the store manager's bonus shouldn't be as high as it is in comparison to others on the management team since the supervisors tend to be on the floor more with the associates, also selling themselves and helping the store meet its daily, weekly, and monthly goals. I love that I can wear clothes that fit my style and not feel like I'm putting on a front when I go to work. The people I work with are almost always interesting characters as well, and make my day much more enjoyable. If the compensation and support of those actually selling the denim was better, Diesel would definitely get a higher review from me.
