    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Digi International (Less than a year)

    Pros

Digi has been going through a lot of change in the past two years and high employee turn-over, but with the appointment of our new CEO, Ron Konezny, there have already been positive changes in the making. He brings in transparency, collaboration and the genuine desire to see the employees satisfied and reach their goals. The salaries may not be the highest in the industry by comparison, but let's not forget that the benefits, 401K and flex time are great. Few companies these days offer the comprehensive package that Digi brings to the table.

    Cons

Upper Management needs to do a better job of recognizing the value that the employees provide.

    Advice to Management

Continue down the path of transparency, collaboration and remind your employees of the great contributions and value they provide.

I worked at Digi International as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a great company to work for . Learnt a lot being an intern

    Cons

Being a small company , the job guarantee for an international is not that great

    Pros

There are plenty of opportunities to become a core member on new design projects. The engineering resource pool is highly talented and a great learning resource.

    Cons

You must be OK with a highly flexible schedule You must be willing to wear a variety of hats: engineer, tester, salesman

    Advice to Management

All in all, keep up the good work; favoritism isn't shown in assignment of tasks and talent is fairly recognized and rewarded.

    Pros

Company is very supportive of teamwork, of collaboration, while still recognizing unique skills and passions and giving people a chance to excel individually.

    Cons

Strong corporate culture. There is a Digi way of doing things. It is sometimes necessary to find a sponsor to clear an obvious roadblock

    Advice to Management

Make sure everyone in a decisionmaking capacity has a time listening to customers goal. Implement more formal systems for information sharing across divisions not just up and down

    Pros

Debt free financially well run second tier company. Works at finding niches it can dominate rather than taking on larger companies with greater resources.

    Cons

Product line too broad for most salespeople to comprehend. As a result salespeople go where they can easily make their quota or in the latest hot technology they're focused on by their management.

    Advice to Management

More direct account interaction by Digi salespeople outside of North America to uncover strategic opportunities that distribution channels aren't likely to find.

    Pros

Digi is a technically challenging casual work environment. You regularly get to work with new technologies and develop new products. All this without a micro manager looming over your shoulder. It is really the best of both worlds. Education and training is promoted from corporate. The benefits here are better than normal.

    Cons

Like all fast paced engineering groups, project planning could be better. More often than not, the project starts with no specifications and documentation is put off until the very last minute. As always, this bites you in the butt. More time upfront would alleviate many of the problems during development.

    Advice to Management

Plan your projects better. Get specs up front and avoid feature creep. Documentation actually HELPs and is not entirely evil.

Smaller size company for my taste. But still a great place to work! Very structured and very nice. Interior needs to be updated.

    Pros

Work environment and the quality of work are pretty good. Competent engineers are there from whom we can learn a lot. Learning curve is good.

    Cons

Some times it happens that the management is a little ruthless during the project deadlines. And your contribution might get overlooked

    Advice to Management

I personally do not have any advice to give for the management. I am okay with the way it is.
