Digital Check is a poster child for innovative product development rebounding in the USA. Engineering is headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga (near L.A.) in a good facility, managed by people knowledgeable about product development, the market and the supply chain. The engineering team is small which means no pigeon-holing, but emphasis is placed on the importance of time and focus to complete tasks. Product development times, from concept to production, take about 6 to 18 months depending on the complexity of the product. Once a product enters the development pipeline, the product is completed in an almost serial fashion with no aborted development efforts. The transition from engineering into production is eased by management experience on both sides of the wall, proximity and a willing team-like atmosphere.

Cons

Paper-based money exchange is gradually being replaced by e-transfers, plastic and maybe NFC. That said, declining markets always result in lucrative niche opportunities for an entrepreneurial visionary. Digital Check has a history of successfully navigating through market transitions caused by disruptive technologies, usually involving products related to imaging.
