I worked at Digital Chocolate full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very fun atmosphere. Cool facilities with cafeterias and game rooms. Pay is good. It gives you nice curriculum. It's a company large enought to learn a lot, and small enought to feel your work actually adds a lot into the final product.

    Cons

If you are into producing high quality games, this might not be the place for you. They rather publish a mediocre game full of bugs, than waiting a week or two to publish a quality product.

They have periods where employee dismisal is almost automatic in order to reduce workforce and meet budgets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mediocre games are mediocre games, regardless of the date you release them. Allocate one week or two to polish the games and resolve bugs and you'll be much better.

I have been working at Digital Chocolate full-time

    Pros

*Great atmosphere, feels like on big happy family.
*Management is flexible with employee's life style and reasonable with work hours.
*A great place to start gaining experience in the industry and to build contacts.

    Cons

*Poor leadership, lack of direction or focus.
*Company is 2 years behind the curve and can't figure out what it wants to do.
*Scared of change or high risks or to use technologies they don't feel comfortable with, and when they do take risks they use old ways of thinking to implement those changes.
*Employees skills and experience are misallocated.
*Company tries to use old methods and features to address and solve new problems.
*Money and metrics are more important than design and player community.
*Upper management or product managers will ignore employees warnings and still dictates what happens in a given situation even though they lack the experience in that area, only using skewed metrics or blanket replies to drive their own agenda.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

*Actually listen to your employees who have experience in their fields and don't blow them off assuming they don't know anything.
*Your product managers may have some numbers to support their information, but that does not make them any better than your designers that have years of actual experience.
*Bad metric driven design will only get you short term financial gains. Your players are not stupid. They will stop playing and they will leave your games entirely.
