Pros
Great work environment, positive morale, great leadership team
Cons
None to speak off, sometimes the work load is tough to balance against flexible schedules
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
Pros
The only good thing about DCU is the benefits.
Cons
Hours are not good for family life and difficult to get time off at times. Bonuses are far few and between. Constant turnover and Managment promoting new people over ones that have been there longl
Pros
DCU offers great benefits including a generous 401k match. If you work in the corporate office, there is a great fitness center available for $3 per week.
Cons
Senior management is overpaid, while the employees doing all the work are underpaid. Some managers are extremely unappreciative- they will take credit for your ideas! If you are one of the chosen "few" you will have a wonderful experience. Some managers will ask you to work and tell you not to record the time on your timesheet because they don't want to pay the OT.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach!
Pros
Good workplace perks.. Ice cream, soda, wellness center, team building activities
Cons
Big company... On the end, it's all about the bottom line. Don't expect much as far as $$. No raises even if you manage to land a promotion.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your employees more money and forget about the perks
Pros
They have great benefits and fun incentives for their employees
Cons
Pay could be a bit more competitive
Advice to Senior Management
Too many managers....
Pros
cheap lunches
free ice cream
you get to go home at the end of the day barely.
Cons
Politics- these guys are so about dog and pony shows. the new IT management has driven out every original member of the IT team. Now all they have is the hacks that are either friends or actual relatives of the management team. This place is a joke now.
Advice to Senior Management
Man up and admit the conversion did more harm than good.
Pros
The benefits are great and rarely matched by other companies. The people are awesome to work with.
Cons
The pay is lower than average. If you attempt to get promoted you come up against the good ol' boys politics.
Advice to Senior Management
Advocate for your employees. Give credit where credit is due.
Pros
Great people to work with, great culture, good benefits
Cons
Company took major hit from recession, average pay.

Pros
Before 2005
- fun place to work
- efforts are constantly rewarded. Examples included: monetary rewards for coming in on weekends and new ideas
- feeling of 'being sheltered' and backed by a solid organization and management
- excellent medical benefits
Before the start of 2009:
- excellent 401K match
- vacation time
- effort recognition
Cons
- management promotes hostile work environment, by placing employees under stressfull conditions
- start of 2009, DCU has removed the 401K contribution match
- engineers are treated like a commodity
- 'inside political games' affect job performances across the board and create unnecessary distractions
- DCU practices what they call 'cross-training' - what this basically means is taking a person from one department, say call center, and make them a software engineer, or vice versa. Technical project management is lead by people that have absolutely no formal technical expertise.
- lateral moves are very popular here. This is an after-effect of cross-training. Definitely not a suitable environment for a professional wanting to build a career
- decisions on making vendor purchases are made on basis personal relationships and first matches in popular search engines, little consideration is given to technical personnel's opinions
Advice to Senior Management
- hire an adequately trained personnel for suitable positions
- technical folks are intelligent and have years of training and experience and should be dealt with as accordingly
- listen to your employees advise! This is a reason you hired them in the first place - their expertise.
- 'quiet humiliation' of employees by the management usually usually spells disaster in a long run
- open and honest communication - GOOD. Dealing behind your employees backs - BAD.
Pros
Just for starters, DCU has been on the list of the 25 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America for 4 consecutive years. That alone tells you a lot about this company. Not only that, but DCU has grown exponentially over the last years, even while other financial companies struggled.
Here is a tiny list of ways DCU spoils its employees:
- Free Ice-Cream, all day every day!
- Two personal Gyms(probably to burn off all that ice-cream)
- Game rooms
- Plenty of employee and family activities
- Discounted tickets to anything you can think of
DCU is BY FAR the best company I ever worked at!
Cons
Because we just went through a major conversion, it appears that DCU lost some of it's family oriented style and fell into a stressful mentality.
Advice to Senior Management
I'd say we as a company need to push for team building activities.
