Interesting, challenging technical work, with the chance make an impact.

Cons

Very long hours, no recognition, a sales team that behave like school children, and all senior technical staff have now departed over recent years due to management changes. This has left large knowledge gaps in a significant legacy code base, running on ancient hardware.

Advice to Senior Management

The new Spanish management is poor and 100% sales focused, with no understanding of the technology behind the website.

Pros

Good salary and benefits package. People generally friendly and co-operative.

Cons

Poor communication and management. A failed attempt to integrate into its new parent company lead to senior management completely taking their eye off the ball which has resulted in poor performance and lay-offs.

A few people have a very obstructionist attitude that prevents others doing their jobs properly - I understand their reasons but they have to understand they need to give and take more.

Internal processes tend to be too bureaucratic and not fit for purpose.

Stick to your promises to focus on day-to-day management again
