Pros
- Good work culture
- Good benefits
- Good number of holidays
- 401 K match
- Free beers and free bagels
Cons
- Few people, lot of work
- Hire and fire rule rigorously followed
- Its based in downtown boston, so commuting through train might be problematic
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing the good work, keep identifying the talent and give them a good opportunity and good benefits. Thank you
Pros
The best reason is your team. Most all the people are sincere and professional. You will work a lot, however, there is flexibility in telecommuting and having to take time off unexpectedly.
Cons
The high price of workload is not fun to pay. Senior leaders expect around-the-clock availability. If you're not on board with that, you will get passed over as not as interested in your career as others.
Advice to Senior Management
Create work life balance in your own lives so that everyone else can feel they have the permission to as well.
Pros
Reputation of the Company
Company perks (free bagel fridays, tap room, flex work schedule)
Presence in the industry
Smart coworkers who eager to learn if they are given the opportunity
Cons
No professional development opportunities, no growth for junior level employees, salaries are not competitive within the market place, owned by a HUGE global conglomerate - Publicis limits the autonomy of Digitas
Advice to Senior Management
Cultivate your junior employees - we are begging to be mentored, trained, empowered. Send some of us to the big industry shows and let us learn instead of sending senior leaders. Start recognizing employees and paying them what they are worth - Publicis may be having financial difficulties, but Digitas is doing great - employees should reap the benefits too.
Pros
Really talented, smart people. It's a fun place to work. There is a lot of flexibility and the managers/VPs are helpful in developing your career.
Cons
Promotions are too far and few between, it's hard to make any money here unless you are prepared to stay 10+ years.
Advice to Senior Management
lose the semi-annual promotion cycle. allow managers to promote people who deserve it and give them the power to keep employees who need more money.
Pros
Growth opportunities
Smart, energetic people
Good processes and systems
Excellent culture
Cons
Some favoritism in terms of promotions and salary increases
Some instances where people are not rewarded or recognized for talent and competency but for how outspoken they are or how much they are willing to take on the work that no one else wants
Appears to be a lot of drama - if you can self-manage your reactions the drama is tolerable.
Advice to Senior Management
Reduce the drama and focus more on work environment and developing your people.
Pros
Strong opportunities for mentoring
Excellent roster of clients
Access to truly cutting edge interactive strategy and technology
Outstanding co-workers - bright, down to earth people
Opportunities for advancement within the organization
Consistent and comprehensive feedback on your performance
Good training programs for more junior positions
Cons
It's a large company, which means that relative to smaller more entrepreneurial companies professional advancement will take longer as tenure plays a larger role. It also means you have less room to negotiate compensation. These are more typical of the type and size of Digitas, rather than Digitas itself. Nevertheless, it could frustrate some who expect a more free-flowing environment.
Advice to Senior Management
As the industry emerges from recession, don't forget about the sacrifices your employees have made over the last year plus. Promotions have been delayed. Salaries have been somewhat stagnant. Make sure people are rewarded for the hard work they've invested through the tough times, and they will be more likely to show loyalty when attrition picks up again along with industry growth.
Pros
The people you work with are fun, but come crunch time people have serious attitude.
Usually fast paced
Cons
Managers are not trained properly.
Advice to Senior Management
Get clued in to what is happening at all levels. Lower level employees are the base of your company.
Pros
great exposure to global, blue chip, fortune 500 and 100 brands
can gain thorough and vast experience in the interactive realm
relatively cool atmosphere to work in
Cons
drastic loss in the creative spirit that once existed here
red tape and bureaucracy has signigicantly increased over the years
lots of ego, and expectations of group think
a great place for ass kissers and save asses
'creative process' has dropped the 'creative' and embraced the 'process'
work-life imbalance, expectation of 50+ hours minimum
Advice to Senior Management
lose the ego, lose the group think, encourage talent, encourage potential, shed the formalities
Pros
Great name, good reputation - experience at Digitas will definitely add to a resume if you are looking to stay in the industry.
Cons
In the company's changes in the past couple years, there seems to be a lot more red tape in getting recognized for good work and career advancement. It used to be that a person could tailor their time here to align with their career objectives, but now it's more of a day to day rut.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees need more freedom to explore their career and interests - there is a definite noticeable difference in the level of creativity and "cutting edge" ideas that are being churned out. Focus of the company is tending to shift towards "getting the job done" rather than producing cutting edge work...while getting the job done.
Pros
you learn so much about the interactive landscape and juggle many projectes at once. Great learning experience! Since you will be putting in many hours, it is okay to come in a little later in the AM if needed.
Cons
Digitas will work you to the bone. You will probably send out over 100 emails a day and receive 250+ emails a day. You will often find yourself working till very late hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Please take a better look at the advancement process. Many times individuals will be sitting in the same position for years and not get the advancement they need.
