Pros
Great folks, great place to arrive at each day. One of the very good places to launch your career from.
Cons
Still in Detroit, but that is to be expected. Lot of skitshish nerves with the issues going on within the auto industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep seeking out non-automotive work. Continue to communicate on the behalf of the PMs in their efforts to work with marketing.
Pros
Really nice people at the manager and below position. Very down to earth.
HR staff are really helpful and want you to get to your perfect position.
Strategy drives most of the business in the agency, so as a member of S&A you've got a lot of power.
Cons
At AD and above, the leadership wouldn't be very clear about promotions.
You're only on one client (GM) so if you want to work on other brands there' no opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management
Be as transparent as possible.
Pros
It's a great place to start off and get your feet wet. It's fun and gives a true flavor of what it's like to work at a real agency. People are fun and there's lots of activity going on throughout
Cons
Incompetence and beureaucracy result in a lot of lost accounts and positions are eliminated as a result. Few people stay for long. Leadership exoduses are common. Possesiveness of territory by Boston office makes informataion sharing difficult
Advice to Senior Management
Get all GM business away from Boston. Their self serving approach does nothing to service the clients and is divisive for the agency.
Pros
Good initial starting salary
Looks great on your resume
Great list of clients
Transfer opportunities all over the U.S. and world
Intelligent co-workers and upper management
Cons
Too many after work parties and activities
There are a lot of in-office cliques
Minimal feedback about job performance
High turnover rate
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employee ideas and complaints in order to make changes and please the current employees. that way you will have less turnover and keep quality employees from leaving the company.
Pros
Great people, great clients, makes an impact on our clients bottom line.
Cons
Would love to see more availability to work on other accounts from our office.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to support, listen and learn from the people on the front lines
Pros
Opportunity to work with very intelligent people and long term client relationships.
Cons
Easy to get lost in the shuffle.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the work of all your analysts and senior analysts.
Pros
The Detroit office used to be the most talented agency in the area. There are still a number of talented, high-caliber individuals in this office. The demands of supporting GM brings a very challenging environment.
Cons
Lack of professionalism is being perpetuated by middle management. In a very competitive environment, there is a continuing downward slide in integrity and trustworthiness. Also, in an effort to keep up with client demands for staffing, Digitas has diluted the talent pool over the last couple of years.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on efforts to keep senior-level talent other than scare tactics. Integrity still counts, even in tough times. Putting client needs above protecting agency reputation (done so through questionable means) goes a long way in building and maintaining trust.
Pros
Great reputation amongs clients and industry leaders
Cons
No career growth, get stuck in a position. Won't let you move/transistion into new roles.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote the deserving. Allow people to work on business that drives them. Don't say no.
