I have been working at Digium full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A lot of smart and talented people at the company. Get to work with exciting technology.

    Cons

Lack of focus. Too many products and projects for a company this size. Not enough resources dedicated each one in order for them to be successful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do less things, but do them better.

I worked at Digium full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Digium was always very open and forthcoming with the overall company status and general direction of the company

    Cons

Digium was a small startup that was doing big things, unfortunately a sizeable group from another company came onboard to basically fill every high level position and with it began steering the company down more corporate and far less innovative or risk taking paths and with it the overall business began to stagnate against competitors. Something reflected in the financial layoffs that followed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the effort to worry less about doing it like all of the other guys and begin to think again about doing it like a startup. Act like a startup that has become a business and not a startup that has become a corporate company.

I worked at Digium as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Digium has a very good Work Environment. There is a lot of movement within the company so there is a good chance for career advancement.

    Cons

The pay could be better. When you get promoted, the pay does not increase enough with the amount of new responsibilities you would take on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a little bit more direction.

I have been working at Digium

    Pros

laid back work environment, friendly co-workers, opportunities to learn something new, good benefits package, managers are easy to communicate with

    Cons

compensation could be better, performance feedback should be given more often, stock options should be given out in larger amounts, a real promotion along with a real pay increase should be given when someone takes on a wide range of new responsibilities in addition to their original responsibilities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Digium "stretches" employees by not providing them with the promotion and pay increase they deserve when they take on a substantial amount of new responsibilities. The only way to make more money is to either move to a different department with a completely different job role, or to take the skills and experience acquired at Digium to find a job somewhere else. Taking on additional job responsibilities while staying in the same department has proved futile.

    Pros

Good people reasonable benefits and reasonable equipment.

    Cons

Management underestimates the time to complete a project. Management doesn't recognize any effort to "go the extra mile".
