I worked at Dignity Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Excellent company
    Room for growth
    Fast paced
    Good pay
The higher ups care about all departments and look at each one individually to see where help is needed

    Cons

Not a lot of promotions. Lack of communication from your main boss. The pay is better then most jobs, but not as much as to be made in similar areas.

I have been working at Dignity Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. Competitive pay
    2. Competitive benefits
    3. Great opportunity to participate on new projects and expand knowledge in current field
    4. Opportunity to move around and up in the organization
    5. Good vision and mission
    6. Employee recognition events

In my opinion, the future looks bright for Dignity Health and I am very happy to be here. However, if the cons are not addressed over the next year or so I fear that Dignity Health will see an even larger turnover problem.

    Cons

    1. Poor standardization across the system in nearly every aspect of the business
    2. Poor communication from corporate to the individual facility employee. More EMAIL is not the answer!
    3. Horrid work life balance in some departments (e.g., Finance & HR & Nursing Leadership)
    4. Yearly merit increase are not nearly as rich compared to what a represented employee receives
    5. Lean staffing in a lot of departments especially in the facilities
    6. A significant amount of initiatives going on all at the same time.
    7. Too much focus on profit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Immediately focus on the following:
    1. Increase Staffing - all departments not just nursing!
    2. Standardize - the lack of it is crippling the company!
    3. Identify a new way to communicate that does not involve Email. Consider some form of moratorium on email.
    4. Implement an extra PTO day a year to participate in community service/volunteering

    Pros

Dignity is a true mission driven organization. The environment is supportive, growth oriented, allows for individual creativity and contribution, and professional development.

    Cons

Change is constant in healthcare. If you don't like change or have trouble adapting to change, don't choose a career in healthcare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep it up!

    I worked at Dignity Health

    Pros

Friendliness of staff. This is a great company with a commitment to their employees. They truly make you feel welcome and valued.

    Cons

There are no challenges that I can think of, there is a great deal of room for growth and this company encourages moving up the ranks from within.

I have been working at Dignity Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Opportunities are given to you when you seek them out
If you work hard here, people will notice quickly
lots of different avenues to take with positions, flexibility

    Cons

avoid gossip and do your job well - this goes for anywhere you work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not be passive with your staff - keep them in line or it does everyone who works with them a diservice (and reflects poorly on you, not them)

I have been working at Dignity Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Dignity Health is a mission-driven company with many talented, caring people who really do want to make a difference. Dignity Health is the catalyst and encourages its employees to share their unique talents.

    Cons

Complex healthcare environment; sometimes seen as too risk-averse (it this environment, that could also be seen as a Pro, not a Con)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep sharing the "hello humankindness" vision. It's catching on, both at Dignity Health and beyond.

Current Employee - Project Manager I in Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at Dignity Health as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Dignity provides a path for growth. As a Project Manger 1, the path is clear if that is the job you want to maintain. There are multiple levels, a PM1, PM2, to a PM3 and growing into a Program Manger 1, and 2. and so on to Director and above.

    Cons

Many people are brought on as contractors and when you hit the one year mark, it takes a lot to get a raise. You need to show evidence of added responsibilities on top of what you were hired to do in order to get even a minimum raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure all managers follow the leadership model. Reward the employees for hard work.
