    Pros

Salary is respectable for retail, sense of satisfaction when goals are met, you receive credit (promotions and salary boosts) for your hard work. Off on thanksgiving.

    Cons

Yearly reviews are vague at best, racial diversity is not visible after sales management positions, and completion of daily tasks often overshadow training opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Figure out where managers would like to take their careers, and if they're worth the time; put them in position by coaching and developing them to pursue those goals.

    Pros

Pay is good, work with good ladies in my department. Work with my schedule. Good discount 25%

    Cons

Store manager needs to be little kind n speak to associates. Stop looking so mean. Said good morning one time and was ignored. Just rude. Some managers are very nice. Others act like they're all good and associate are nothing. Talk down on you. Need to be off at a Saturday or Sunday. No more yelling at staff at closing time over the intercom. Like we're some slaves. Where the professionalism?

    Advice to Management

Managers need more training on how to talk to associates. Be more professional.

    Pros

Great pay, flexible hours, and 25% discount

    Cons

Ridiculously competitive, favoritism amongst the managers, terrible store management, your pay gets cut if you do not meet sales quota which makes co-workers competitive and they tend to steal your sales. There were numerous times where sales associates would argue on the floor over a customer and while warnings were given it always continued. Management is just awful! I don't know where they get these people from but clearly they have no experience on how to handle groups of employees. Overall, terrible company to work for and terrible management from the store manager to the assistant store manager to the department managers. If I could give senior management no stars, I would.

    Advice to Management

There were numerous complaints and nothing was done. And favoritism amongst management was so obvious. The same employees would get to work the first day of sales every single sale which allowed them to hit their sales quota and leave nothing for the rest of employees. Numerous employees complained but once again nothing was done. Please, learn how to be a manager. The store manager and assistant store manager clearly have no idea how to run a store as well as the department managers. Some employees can get away with breaking the rules while other employees get fired for the smallest of things.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

learning how to deal with the public and dealing with coworkers

    Cons

Had a hard time staying float in sales especially with construction...never got offered a promotion...bad office mngmt all asms and bad attitudes. hard to stay positive in a very negative atmosphere

    Advice to Management

please give positive reinforcement to all associates a little goes a long way...give incentives to sell more like maybe advertising...make it a happier place to work. a lot of employees felt like it was a prison and werent happy more like it was a drudgery.

    Cons

Executive managers bully you. Give you a demotion without a real reason. Then district managers threaten you not to talk about your demotion or you will no longer have a job with the company.

    Advice to Management

Grow up, learn to be fair. Stop playing favorite.
