I worked at Dillard's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Opportunity for growth, a lot of potential experience if you're in a big market. Decent discount. Good pay for associates.

    Cons

Rampant negativity, never get a "thank you" or "well done" unless it's a backhanded compliment. Not very good health benefits, especially for families.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees with respect and they will work hard for you. There is no need to constantly ask for more and threaten jobs to get people to do work.

I have been working at Dillard's (less than an year)

    Pros

Good as a entry level job and very flexible for students as well.

    Cons

The biggest challenge is knowing how to engage customers. I believe with excellent ethics in how to talk to customers, you should be able to get the job done. Other than that, easiest job ever for a good level of pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good managers if there are leaning.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for growth if willing to move to different stores. District Manager is very approachable and often recognized outstanding performers when visiting the stores by thanking them for their contributions.

    Cons

Not enough Assistant Managers in the larger stores so that Area Sales Managers may spend more time with their teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more Assistants so that Area Managers may spend more time with their people.

I have been working at Dillard's

    Pros

Coworkers are awesome and e product is obviously fun to work with.

    Cons

No holidays, expected to work when stores are open. Horrible leadership. Management are catty ladies who live for Dillard's and have no personal lives therefore do not understand personal lives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get with the times. Loyal employees are respected and given more vacation than 2 weeks for 10 years.

    I worked at Dillard's

    Pros

The people you work with, you can make good friends.

    Cons

Terrible place to work! Too high quotas and they fire you if you don't make their goals after an amount of time they give you. Don't be fooled about your nice hourly wage, they will cut your pay without you even knowing after three months. I have never worked for a company like this, you stress and feel unappreciated. Please don't work for Dillards, you will regret it if you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would want to say to the management and to the store managers that I would love them for one day to be in the sales associates shoes and can see what it is like. NO matter how hard we try or what we do, management will never be happy. Theres always something that will come up and you will have to push yourself to exceed. I really hope that someday Dillards will get the karma they deserve!

    I worked at Dillard's

    Pros

    Lack of supervision
    Can stand around all day
They won't fire you unless you steal something

    Cons

I can't even describe all that is wrong with this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to rework your structure and you don't there will be a lot of turn over and even more important the customer will be very dissatisfied.
