I have been working at Dillard's

    Pros

25% discount, plus a few times a year they double that. Also management works with you in setting up a career path. Opportunity is there!

    Cons

If hired in as part time it can be difficult to become fulltime, unless your a sales associate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train ALL associates on online and reservation returns! Have a fulltime Secretary at every store, and update the training videos.

I have been working at Dillard's

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Good hours
    Great pay
    Benefits for full time employees

    Cons

Lazy employees not getting properly delt with.
    Lack of training program

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need a better discipline process. Write up after wrote up and nothing happens to the lazy workers is ridiculous . You don't need to pay them to stand around for hours and play on their phones.
The training program needs structure. You need designated trainers to properly train the new employees coming in not just whoever happens to be on the floor that day.

I have been working at Dillard's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Love my department, love my coworkers and love the hours. Had to sale but it wasn't hard to do in my department. I got a raise after the first 3 months.

    Cons

Hourly quotas, monthly quotas, weekly quotas, etc. It is all about the money! but that's why they pay you well.

I have been working at Dillard's

    Pros

    -Family-like environment
    -Great pay
    -Managers work with you
    -Paid holidays and vacation
    -Awesome employee discounts

    Cons

The only issue I've really ever had with this job is the fact that returns can affect quota and it can be very competitive. I work in a commission based department, but we actually work together and play fair. Depends and varies on the department you work in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've had nothing but helpful and caring managers. The store managers at this location, are also very helpful and hold a store meeting every morning to let us know how our departments are doing and how we can improve as a team to make it up.

    Pros

    Good hours
    Friendly management
    Great opportunities

    Cons

    SPH on hourly employees
Turn over cause of hours for hourly staff
Hourly associates not motivated to sell to focused on making a SPH quota.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let's work and fix the SPH system and motivate the employees to provide more exceptional service to our customers and not focus so much on SPH quota.

I have been working at Dillard's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

i started as a fill-in during a promotional time, move to regular hours and then to full time as I proved myself through sales and customer service. Was promoted to a business manager, then sales manager and eventually to a larger store with more with more responsibility. They promote and award raises to people who want to succeed. The negative comments come from those who are lazy, don't work hard and want easy sales handed to them.

    Cons

Limited promotional advertising forces associates to really work on their phone skills to reach out to customers to help improve their personal sales.
