I have been working at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to move around and up in company. Incentives, frequent company festivities for fun environment, reimbursement for CPhT, I have moved up and around company and I am not related to anyone in "higher up" positions. Good training for new hires. Flexible scheduling. Secure building, lunch vendors, free workout facility/classes.

    Cons

Metrics for most positions. Not a good structure when it comes to compensation: People starting out sometimes are making close to those that have been there for a few years. Pay not very comparable to others in the same field.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with a labor grade for pay so those that have experience, personality, and degrees are being rewarded with pay over those that don't. Try harder to keep the workers that have shown themselves as solid, knowledgeable, and hard workers. It would be nice if some of the "decision makers" periodically sat and did/observed the jobs to see if their expectation is realistic.

I have been working at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy

    Pros

Easy to get in to entry level positions, then work your way up
Lots of expansion and opportunity to advance
Good place to gain valuable knowledge and contacts in multiple industries
Not a bad company to work for

    Cons

High turnover, can make your job difficult
Many positions are compensated at a level significantly lower than you would find elsewhere (hence the turnover)
The company sometimes puts mediocre individuals in a position to save money (rather than hire a more expensive individual)
HR tends to be sloppy in the way they do business. Not bad people, but not always helpful.
The company is unusually paranoid of letting people work from home, even in positions where that is the norm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay for quality people. Promote from within (you do this, but maybe not often enough), or at least within the same industry. Treat your professionals like professionals; let them work from home if it works out well in certain situations.

Company is focused on the quick dollar rather than long term employee investment.

    Pros

The inside of the corporate headquarters was nice, but it too plan - no creative look you would expect from a company that says it is innovative and advanced.

    Cons

Lack of advancement, lack of investment in employees, lack of innovation at the board room level. Complete disconnect from top down. The powers in charge are focused on selling parts or all of the company so they can make a ton of money while ridding the backs of it's employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in helping employees advance and stay with company. Actually invest in money, time efforts in making employees better and follow through on empty promises.

    Pros

reimburse you for your tech license, looks good on your resume.

    Cons

Pay, turnover, promoting people that have no idea how to do their job, they take micro managing to a new level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Stop promoting family and friends to positions they have no business being in

I worked at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Innovative, challenging, flexible work schedule

    Cons

Exhausting hours, will ALWAYS prioritize careers of CEO family members over any other employees. Flint headquarters has plenty of employee benefits but remote sites are often ignored.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very discouraging to de-motivating to employees when decisions are clearly based on an employee being related to the CEO

I have been working at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time

    Pros

Good working environment and good leadership. The company is growing fast and expects to add 500 more people in the next few years. Diplomat sponsors many events in Flint and is very active in the community. On-site we have access to a fitness room, a personal trainer, yoga workouts and pickle ball. The leadership team is available to employees and many executives know the names of most of the 900+ employees.

    Cons

Salaries are much lower than salaries nationwide but things are moving in the right direction. The company has many hourly employees who are treated as the same even though hourly positions include call center employees, inside sales, maintenance, shipping and executive assistants. As a privately held company, there is not a lot of transparency with salary bands and when promoting, it can be difficult to know what to expect in compensation.
