    Pros

Decent pay, friendly people, summer Fridays

    Cons

No room for advancement, salary freezes since 2012, low morale, not innovating, been through 4 CEO's in less than 3 years

    Advice to Management

It's time to realize the association as a whole needs new direction and vision. Direct marketing is but one piece of a marketers arsenal. If they don't advance with the times they will continue to fail.

    Pros

Great people. Had the best boss. Learned a lot. They are very much into training and keeping your skills up to date. Still keep in touch with my ex-coworkers and consider them my friends.

    Cons

I loved working in DMA so much, that when the lay off time came, it was a total shock.

    Pros

Great networking opportunities, great team, opportunities for media and industry exposure, training opportunities. People are the greatest asset.

    Cons

Declining membership and revenues, layoffs, somewhat stuffy culture, management turn over, poor morale. Managment is more interested in self-promotion than the needs of the organization and staff.

    Advice to Management

Provide more leadership to staff and boost morale, find new revenue streams, increase membership

    Pros

Flexible work schedule Good work/life balance Decent people

    Cons

Everyone is complacent within the company -- company culture of if it ain't broke, don't fix it (even if they've been doing the same thing for the last 20 years). I tried coming up with ideas to improve certain processes, and was ignored, and told to leave "well enough alone" Very little development opportunity Compensation could be better. I had been promised increased commission % if I hit a certain goal, and when that time came, it was ignored

    Advice to Management

Communicate, and follow through with your promises

    Pros

    Great people to work with

    Cons

Senior Management wants to improve the negative stigma left behind from the prior CEO but not sure how to do it, experimenting with changes without serious thought behind it. No ones rea

    Advice to Management

Communicate, communicate, communicate ..do what you say, say what you do. Treat people respectfully

Once a nice environment, degraded into a corrosive workplace hit hard by economy and a self-serving CEO.

    Pros

Some top-notch staff; nice office; convenient Midtown location; some work-at-home flexibility; crappy CEO flushed, offering hope for improvement.

    Cons

Bad pay; frozen 401K; no more bonuses; job insecurity; former CEO self-served, VPs seemingly protected, Board ignored; a questionable future.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with team. Reward all-stars. Downsize VP bloat. Be transparent with all constituencies. Focus on members. Pray like hell.
