Pros
DFS is so far the best company I worked for. Great training program and encourages internal transfer
Cons
Some people is comfortable of just do my day attitude.
Mid management can be overworked with all the corporate stuff
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up
Pros
Make your own schedule and are allowed to make schedule changes weekly.
Cons
Upper management showed favoritism and collections environment there is cut throat.
Pros
Casual environment with typical IT staff. Some business casual dressing, mostly for finance. Great cafeteria, lots of paid time off, decent starting wage for the area. Some positions able to "work from home" after employment. Internship program brings great potential to the teams.
Cons
Chicagoland starting wage a little lower than normal. If working up a corporate ladder is your game, this is not the place for you. Bureaucratic politics kept to a minimum. Not a highly structure environment, which some may prefer.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire better marketing teams. Discover Card still seen as the "who takes this" card among youth who will be applying for the card in upcoming decade. Make a video that's able to go viral. Any publicity is good publicity.
Pros
Pay is awesome plus you earn incentive. Management actually care about you and want to better you professionally. Cafeteria and arcade in the building. Nurse is also there for you for free.
Cons
One person gets sick and the whole company is sick. If you don't call out exactly 24-48 hours in advance you get penalized and written up. Does not matter if you have a doctor's note or you are literally throwing up at your desk, it will count against you so keep your immune system healthy.
Advice to Senior Management
Change your policy with attendance. If you really want people to stay with your company and enjoy working then allow them to stay home or stay in the hospital when they are sick and not fear losing their job because of it!
Pros

Advice to Senior Management
Reconize your long time workers
Pros
Nice office environment.
Decent work life balance.
Dedicated employees.
Cons
Pay still lags industry norms.
As with any company, weak management within parts of the company.
Downsizing work force.
Pros
benefits, location close to my house, easy work, not to hard at all....extensive training program, onsite gym, nice building....lots of time off, options to move around....flexible with time off
Cons
pay is terrible, schedules are limited, saturday work, outdated hardware, strcutured enviornment, bonuses are almost nonexistant, feel very underemployed.....seems to be a cheap company
Advice to Senior Management
offer more to employees to step up and raise the bar, dont buy treats give raises...more direct feedback...something?
Pros
Everyone should work here before getting a credit card.
Cons
The job gets boring and monotonous
Pros
Great paid time off. Clean building. Great Tuition Reimbursement. I have a lot of lifetime friends.
Cons
You are held to a standard that is impossible to reach. Stat driven department that drives manipulation and hostility.
Advice to Senior Management
I think all of management should understand the loans prior to being put into a managerial position. I think the immediate Team Leaders try their hardest, but are lacking the basic skills to manage. Senior Management needs the most feedback, they should get to know their employees. It is sad that upper management only cares about stats and bottom line #'s. I think they took everyone experienced in Collections and Sales with Competition at the top of their Strengths and threw them in management. There is not a balance. Be engaged with each Underwriter and find out something about them as individuals. Management would never read this anyway.
Pros
Competitive compensation and benefits. Good people and fairly fun atmosphere. Decent first job for youngsters.
Cons
Results driven micromanagement at its finest
