I worked at Discovery Point Child Development Centers part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This was the best first job that I could ask for! The staff was like a family. Management was very respectful, and always willing to help their employees. Working with children was such a blessing, and I am sad that I had to move! Pay was over minimum wage.

    Cons

No company is going to be perfect! Thee was sometimes confusion with scheduling, but even that wasn't much of a problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! And thanks for all that you've done :)

    Bad employer

I worked at Discovery Point Child Development Centers

    Pros

Get to work with kids ages 0-5
Great environment for learning to be a caretaker or early childhood education majors

    Cons

Seems that a majority of the employees are mothers with little other work experience and a tendency to ignore newcomers and won't help you with anything then gripe about how the newcomers don't know anything
Hours are NOT flexible so it's not a good environment for students

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't alienate your employees and if you have a grievance with an employee do faze them out by abusing their schedules and waiting for them to screw up because you made it impossible to work there

I worked at Discovery Point Child Development Centers part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Team itself ~ overall was good

    Cons

Office culture was prone to favoritism, extremely unprofessional and lacked leadership from both Assistant /Director to owner's rampant lack of scruples.
No incentives, growth or values, in fact- owner was lecherous with maintenance personnel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell or revamp entire upper management to weed out familial and/or personal interests.

I have been working at Discovery Point Child Development Centers full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I love working at Discovery Point because the management and staff are awesome and very supportive of me continuing my education. The management positively recognize their teachers efforts and they pay a certain percentage of child care for your child.

    Cons

Even though they have dental and health benefits, they do not have 401k and other retirement benefits. This is not a job you want to retire from. It is crucial that you continue your education so you will make more money and explore other future opportunities in the Early Care and Education field.
