Pros
Amazing studio lot/work environment
Great employee benefits
Disneyland Tickets/passes
Numerous weekly events
Friendly employees - it feels like a family!
Cons
Long hours
Corporate culture in some areas
Work balance life can depend on your management
Pros
Some of the pros of working at Disney is that you get lots of hours, there is a lot of overtime available, there are opportunities for growth, and good benefits.
Cons
Some of the cons of working at Disney is that the hours are not flexible, transportation can take longer than other jobs and they are strict.
Pros
Great brand creation - This is self explanatory - they know how to tell a story and make characters people remember
Great training - Disney University and ways to transfer company culture and knowledge is impressive and scalable
Great people - Disney attract talent and your peers will be smart and creative
Great Service Culture - the parks are masters at creating and maintaining an experience.
Cons
Can't get promoted more than one level at a time no matter your qualifications/job needed.
People often leave and come back to get around it.
I believe in paying dues, but if you are qualified, you are qualified
Advice to Senior Management
Promote based on merit not process. If someone can do a job two levels above, let them, its better than the way people game the system.
Pros
smart people, strong brands, fun types of business to be in. one of the few entertainment companies with a well-thought out expansion strategy and the resources to acheive its goals
Cons
huge company with deeply entrenched bureaucratic ways that often put a halt to risk taking and creativity. iger knows it and has tried to change the culture.
Pros
Work on amazing projects
Ability to move from one division to another as appropriate
See your work on a grand scale
Cons
The environment can be very political
Sometimes difficult for lower level employees to share ideas/opinions
Very minimal negative opinion overall
Pros
The brand speaks for itself.
Cons
Slow upward growth if starting entry level.
Pros
Cool benefits (Disneyland tickets, free movie screenings)
Office is nice
Colleagues are super nice
Cons
Pay is low and work is mundane
Pros
good people and relaxed environment
Cons
to much change, not enough direction
Advice to Senior Management
publish the plan
Pros
Best reasons to work at disney is all of the dicounts you can get, how well it looks on your resume, free park enteree and passes.
Cons
Depending on your location you MUST work outside in the heat with only one water bottle and no refills for atleast 8 hours. You can get fired for POINTING the non-disney way. They do not value regular cast members and treat you like another number.
Pros
It is a place where a variety of career opportunities can be pursued. The benefits package within the company is one of the best in the country.
Cons
Due to an above average benefits package, the compensation usually is on the low side. You also need to be active in pursuing growth to keep from being pigeon holed into a particular role within the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice is not to ignore those who excel within the organization in unique roles. They may be hard to replace, but make sure those employees have support to grow within the organization.
