Pros
Fun and exciting place to work; part attractions and part entertainment
Cons
Management is not looking out for you
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on complimenting as much as reprimanding
Pros
Its great being an intern I live disney. It is the best place to work. You meet a lot of people.
Cons
As an intern its hard to land a job in the dept that work for. Not a lot if pay for us designers.
Advice to Senior Management
Give me a job
Pros
You receive respect from the people you work for.
Cons
Difficult to move up in the workplace
Pros
Very large company; plenty of opportunities; fantastic for Disney lovers; inevitable access to behind-the-scenes aspects of Disney (for work); plenty to learn when pursued (in most cases)
Cons
Quality of work is very dependent on team and location; management is plagued by large-corporation problems, particularly with communication, which leads to wasted time and meetings to handle miscommunications
Advice to Senior Management
Your employees want more than a pizza party every once in a while; take more advantage of the enormous resources behind Disney--the culture should not just feel like any other big corporation; simple name changes for promotions should also include pay raises and/or other valid incentives; listen more to employees and communicate these changes more clearly, quickly, and consistently
Pros
The people are great and try to do their best to provide a quality experience.
Cons
There are those that get the $$$ and then there's the rest of us just getting by week.to week.
Advice to Senior Management
Please pay your people better and I'm not talking about the executives!
Pros
It's great being a part of the Disney family and the perks are pretty good.
Cons
Promotions are not given out the most qualified candidates. Leadership looks at the number of years you've worked for the company more than education or relevant experience.
Pros
Perks, free admission if you have the time. Discounts on housing, merchandise, food. Notoriety.
Cons
Not alot of free time. Advancement opportunities are there but hard to attain given the sheer volume of employees. Must enjoy Disney and job.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more proactive in interacting with employees, get to know them, understand them, disney is about family on and off stage.
Pros
Working for the Walt Disney Company has been the best experience. They are a very encourgaing company and allow even knew employees to take the leap and get their feet wet.
Cons
Depending on where you starting it might be hard to advance in your line of business, however managers are always willing to help you move to a new opportunity.
Pros
-MANY opportunities for advanced positions.
-Many good employees to work with
-Variety of jobs to do
-Kept busy often
-Days off are easy to obtain(for the most part)
-They may ask you to leave early but the majority of the time, they will not force you to leave.
Cons
-Low pay for often very difficult work
-Scheduling is often VERY difficult to work out
-Very haphazard work hours
-Sometimes 4-hour shifts
-Management does not understand the complexities of the things they often ask you to do.
-Often ridiculous rules make things more difficult for not just the cast member, but the guest as well.....and not for the better.
Advice to Senior Management
Please make a concerted effort be considerate of cast members and assess deeply what rules you impose on cast members. And do not get mad when things don't go the way you want when you just made things 3x's as difficult
Pros
Great option for someone looking for a change-short term work that does not pay great, but makes up for it in the benefits given (park admission etc.).
Cons
Not awesome pay, not enough training on what to do with an angry guest
Advice to Senior Management
Train more about how to appease someone angry- show that employees are valued.
