Fantastic Memories

Guest Relations Cast Member (Former Employee)
Lake Buena Vista, FL

I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI worked at Walt Disney World for four years - the first year was through the WDW College Program, and the rest were Full-Time. In those years, I was able to work a variety of positions, from Merchandise and Attractions, to Guest Relations, Tours, and VIP Experiences. I enjoyed working closely with a variety of talented individuals, and assisting guests, always responding to challenges in creative and fun ways. It was great to be rewarded with perks like park admission, discounts and training opportunities.

ConsAdvancement and pay are on the low end; I believe that many are motivated to work for Disney because of the name, so people are unfortnately easily replaceable.

Great for those who love hospitality/constant interaction - Challenging for introverts

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts

ProsThe company provides excellent and very thorough training to its employees. Future employers, especially in the hospitality industry, are interested in former Disney employees and the high level of customer service they can bring to their company. The discounts and benefits are great. Tons of unique job opportunities

ConsThe compensation is not as high as desired considering that employees are expected to provide extremely high levels of customer service. Large company size makes it easier to get "lost in the shuffle."

What you make of the experience in DCP

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts

Pros- Free passes to park, learning about the backdoor of Disney
- Lots of people

Cons- Cheap way for them to get labor
- Hours can be way too long for extremely repetitive work

Advice to Senior Management- Try to show value to employees (I got falsely accused of being rude to a Guest and almost lost my job if it weren't for me asking a manager to vouch for me.)

ok, but salaries are low

Ride Operator (Former Employee)
Orlando, FL

I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts part-time

Prostraining is ok. office culture is ok. Personal growth could be enhanced by allowing more members to get into management quicker, but I guess it's just part of their culture to educate people before they are promoted.
