Pros
Great discounts, get into the parks for free, have limited free days for guests, help create magic for people and MOST guests are very happy and nice. Most of my managers were great and helped me get days off when I needed, even did paperwork for me when I had a death and had to leave ASAP
Cons
Low pay, hard to get days off in advance because there are so many employees everything is computerized, obviously holidays are work days for employees, hard to move up/around of you don't know the protocol or the right people.
Advice to Senior Management
Disney is supposed to be a family company. Start worrying more about the families of your employees instead of just the monetary aspect 24/7
Pros
I LOVE Disney, so that is definitely a factor to consider. You got free admission for yourself and others, tons of discounts from outside companies like ATT and stuff. They had a nice credit union, and it was very fun to work there.
Cons
Very late hours, sometimes getting off at 3am, with no negotiation, if you left, you were in trouble. The points system was horrible. You're late a few times and you get a written, get a written and you can't apply for other opportunities or promotions. Very low pay, very low hours, parents suck, some locations was way too hot, getting from your car to your location was time costuming.
Advice to Senior Management
A lot of the managers are really nice and love Disney, but they are always too busy to get to you. You can call them and email them, but they almost always never get back to you unless you're a favorite.
Pros
One of the best reasons to work for Disney is the health benefits and perks associated with being a cast member. There's a sense of satisfaction after completing a show and having 60k + people erupt in applause for something you did.
Cons
It's hard to get time off when you want it. The area managers are always changing and most of the time they're managers from other parts of the park with no experience in that area. They promote internal growth, which I agree with, but it's a contradiction when they're setting up these new managers for failure.
Advice to Senior Management
REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MANAGERS! There are too many hands in the pot and a very big case of "the left not knowing what the right is doing."
Pros
Pay was ok compared to many other jobs. Benefits were decent the usually Health Dental Vision
Cons
Working hours were not great
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Excellent perks, park admission, discounts
Cons
Poor leadership, animal kingdom management
Advice to Senior Management
Care about your cast members
Pros
There is so much opportunity to move up here and the management treats you with respect. I loved working there. I would have never left if I didn't move overseas.
Cons
There wasn't a con, except that you are in an office. But so are most jobs!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the great work!
Pros
The experience of bringing a magical time to families is what you bring to your job you can walk away every day feeling that you made someones day. Disney does do small things every once in awhile to say thank you and you get to enjoy the parks with family and friends.
Cons
Too many college program kids that no one seems to be accountable for. They are thrown into a job and find out fast enough how to do as little as they can. Disney gives them the most hours and gives their regular employees minimal time each week cutting back on he regular hrs they should be getting. Working conditions brutal at times between the heat - rain - cold. No outwear provided for a chilly day just a winter coat to wear all summer in the air conditioning.
Advice to Senior Management
Put more supervision into where these kids should be and what they should be doing sometime you dont see a coordinator or manager a whole shift leaving employees to deal with the kids and that is just what they are . Be appreciative of the employees that are dependable and hard working they know who they are. Some go totally unnoticed.
Pros
free entry TO THE PARKS
Cons
pay not good for employees
Advice to Senior Management
better pay
Pros
unlimited amount of opportunity to grow and move around the company. Depening on how well you network and level of interest.
Cons
the company has become more realistic and cut down on the way the expenses where going. Still nice environment, minus the amazing free dinners and lunch.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership does a good job at recognizing talent. Continue challanging those with talent and don't hold back on those who don't demonstrate innitiative .
Pros
Having worked in multiple restaurants in the Orlando area, I can definitely say that Disney is by far the best and most rewarding of jobs. If you have worked for companies such as Darden or any other big chain name, you will quickly notice the difference a union makes.
Cons
Hard to advance to full-time status. The company hasn't hired full-time servers in several years. Advancement always comes from within and it's a very slow process. Seniority is king.
