Advice to Senior Management
I had great, active and involved management at my location. I heard not all locations were like this, though, and some rarely ever saw their managers or even knew who they were. I think management involvement is key and seeing them work alongside us during busy times helps to maintain close working relationships with them. Also they planned after-hours events and we all went out to the parks together, which contributed to our work ethic and team skills as a whole.
Pros
- great team work
- good training
- huge company to build your resume
- you can always call a coordinator or manager if you have any issue or hard situation or even a doubt about something. they are really helpfull
Cons
- low payment for college program
- hard to trade shifts if you are over 30 hours a week already
Pros
Great environment and Phenomenal Perks
Cons
Poor Pay throughout the entire company
Pros
Generally nice people to work with. Usually younger kids working, many from other countries.
Cons
Hours are sporadic at best and terrible at worst. Pay is below par in my opinion ($7.25-$7.40 hr).
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more, give your employees better hours
Pros
My experience at Disney was of utmost one-of-a-kind opportunities. Even though the job wasn't perfect, I looked forward to going to work every single day.
Cons
Lots of workers, you can get lost in the crowd if you don't get to know fellow entertainers and your managers.
Pros
It is Disney at the end of the day, solid
A lot of areas to work for
Never have to move from Orlando
People are nice around the company as a whole
Training is provided
Cons
Pay is below average
Too many positions before you actually start having more important roles
Advice to Senior Management
Great company to work for, only thing is for this program, it should serve as a pipeline for talent, where a larger group of qualified interns to acquire jobs
Pros
The best reason to work at Disney Parks & resorts is the perks - the Disney Difference! Limited free access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park (France), and Hong Kong Disneyland. Discounted vacations on Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney.
Cons
Very hierarchical, strong office politics in play. Hard to move from various levels - Union to Office and Technical to Salaried to Executive. Often easier to advance by leaving the company and then coming back at a higher level.
Pros
Well known company, great company culture, make people happy. I enjoyed going into work every day for the most part. I I was in the Disney College Program so I was there for five months during the fall semester. It was fun living around people who were also in the program. Management was generally helpful, except for one in particular.
Cons
Often odd work hours, disrespectful guests, lower wages.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees, they are the ones dealing with customers and often have good advice about how to make the hotels better.
Pros
Live in Florida
Great Crew to hangout with
Flexible on hours
living situation was not the best but way better than working at cedar point
Great training for customer service
Cons
Paterson employees
employee cafeteria
running back and forth from hotel
busy days come out of nowhere
little bit of a commute to the middle of the park
Advice to Senior Management
I would say the management was exceptional at the hotel but the management for the living at Paterson was completely irrational when making decisions. To the point that it felt like i was living in prison not AMERICA.
Pros
Insurance Coverage, Park Benefits, Discounts etc
Cons
Long hard hours, no holidays off, difficult to get family balance.
