Pros
The amazing people you get to meet all over the world .
Cons
Long hours. and the Hot weather
Pros
- The best benefits possible.
- Great co-workers who will help out as much as possible.
- Great vacation and sick leave
Cons
- Management is terrible at communcating themselves to the workers
- A lot of the time you will be pulled from a job and moved to a completely different area where there are more than enough workers and you won't have anything to do for the rest of the work day. I guess that would be a Pro for some people.
Advice to Senior Management
- Clearly state what it is you expect from the workers. Also a few of my former co workers ended up finding other jobs since they couldn't handle the way no one ever praises any of their work unless if they kiss up to the leads.
Pros
Free admission to the parks whenever you're not working
Annual free tickets for family or friends
Discounts on park food, Disney hotels, tickets and cruises
Discounts at the Disney Store
Good, caring management. Fun people to work with. You learn the best guest service in the world. Mostly positive experiences. If you like working with people and making them happy, its a good job for you.
Cons
Parks can get crowded and hectic around holidays.
Management can be nit-picky sometimes.
Having to work outdoors in crummy weather, but you get used to it. Its Florida.
For every cranky, ill-tempered guest, there's 100 great guests who are having a great time, which makes for an awesome work environment.
You'll work Sat-Sunday weekends, but you get your consecutive days off on weekdays.
Advice to Senior Management
Cast members don't need to be babysat. Trust us more. Balance the amount of managers and coordinators in an area at a given time. I've had days where there were 4 coordinators and two MOD's in a given shift. Talk about being over-managed. When they left for parade duty, we all breathed a sigh of relief for not being in a fishbowl for at least 45 minutes.
Pros
Diversity, Delightful guests, ability to pick up shifts and get days off on your own, great co-workers, If you do good things your manager aproves of you will get rewarded for it and it will appear on your record, It is easy to form understanding relationships with managers
Cons
In the summertime: Hot weather, Low to Average pay, Sometimes Long hours or shifts
Advice to Senior Management
Give new employees the empowerment to learn diferent and more advanced tasks if they are willing to do them before saying a new employee can not do the job at all just because they are new.
Pros
Tons of room for movement within the company. Perks are pretty awesome also.
Cons
Hours can be long and work can be difficult. Not a place for someone who doesn't like to give 100% at their job
Pros
The company brand and what Disney stands for.
Cons
It's difficult to move into other roles.
Pros
Ability to tailor your job to your talents and vision. Great deal of depth within the company in all disciplines, making is easy to find help on a given topic.
Cons
Amount of time it takes for the company to make a decision
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management is more worried about their individual goals than the overall good of the company. There are competing goals between departments that make arriving at the best decision impossible, instead we end up with a compromise that is not the best solution
Pros
Free admissions, cast discounts, meet lots of people, co workers can be fun, no one would ever confuse it with real work
Cons
Unrealistic to make Disney a career as an hourly employed cast member, long walks to work stations, have to wear a costume and keep tats covered.
Advice to Senior Management
They do fine considering the circumstances
Pros
Meet alot of people from around the world.
Cons
Working holidays are mandatory for interns
Advice to Senior Management
Good training programs and courses.
Pros
The people are great. The working environment is very relaxed and fun. Free bagels and pastries on Friday morning. Weekly scheduled conversations with your manager. Quarterly team celebrations.
Cons
High turnover. Company hires alot of contractors that are only allow to stay for 18-months. With the level of complexity needed it takes about 6 months for any position to feel completely confident in the duties. By the time the contract resource is seasoned and a full contributing member of the team you lose them. Conversion from contractor to permanent seems to be luck of the draw - not by work performance.
Advice to Senior Management
If I could speak to management I'd ask them to rethink some of the hiring practices. We've lost too many good contractors over the past several years.
