  • Work/Life balance can be pretty easy unless you have a call in shift (see cons) (in 5 reviews)

Cons
  • Management seems to have no concern about nurturing talent to grow, because they know there's no where for the cast member to advance to (in 8 reviews)

  • My negative view of working here is the amount of work put on a chosen few of people who work the same position (in 3 reviews)

    Pros

Work environment is very friendly and open. Everyone who works at the store is very enjoyable to be around and to work with. Discounts and perks of working at Disney are a very nice bonus. Most of the time it is a fast-paced work environment which keeps you from being bored. Disney is a really great company to work for.

    Cons

It is really hard to be happy all of the time, especially when we get a LOT of rude guests. Hours fluctuate a lot. I wouldn't recommend this as your only source of income. One week you could be there for 25+ hours the next week you are scheduled for only 8. This is good for students and people that want to have a second job. Not a lot of advancement opportunities.

    Advice to Management

I doubt store management has control over this but, there needs to be more of an open dialogue with our district managers and corporate. As Cast Members who work in the store everyday we get to interact with guests and we learn what they are interested in buying. That way we can have more effective promotional deals and sales.

    Pros

-Great team -Very different retail environment. It's not just your average store at the mall -Customers are usually great. Disney fans become your family

    Cons

I don't really have any cons, except that there isn't much room for advancement unless you move to where there is a new store.

    Advice to Management

I don't know if there is anything they can really do about it, but it would be nice if there was more room for growth. It is understandable that there isn't much room, because who would want to leave a position here anyway? It's awesome!

    Pros

It is intense at times (you're expected to do more than you are at other retail jobs), but it is absolutely worth it. You get the perks of being a Disney Cast Member, and the job itself prepares you for any other job you'll have down the line.

    Cons

It IS intense. Your hours are demanding, and being happy all the time can sometimes be draining. Some of the events are a bit cheesy (there's only so many times you can say "Have a magical day!" before you stop believing it yourself).

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! It's a great store and a great company to work for. Remember that this is some people's first jobs, and that they do have lives outside of the store.

    Pros

-Great coworkers who care about their job. People that work at the Disney Store are generally and genuinely nice people. -Very approachable leadership which gives a lot of feedback. -Great Disney perks.

    Cons

-Very low hours per week. This may be ideal if you are going to school or are doing this as a side job while raising a family. -Call-in shifts. You may have three of these a week. You have to call two hours before the shift to see if you actually need to come in.

    Pros

Great perks, great brand, proud to work

    Cons

Management gets little recognition. Always supporting cast, very little care about managers. But most managers know this.

    Advice to Management

Give care to how hard managers work too. Always pushing, never enough. Hold dms accountable for hard work also.

    Pros

Love working with the guests. We made magic every day. The company found ways to keep things new and exciting, yet holding on to what was important for the brand. I loved being able to provide excellent customer service, and to be supported in that mission.

    Cons

I can't think of anything that would be considered a con, other than stage sets. These can go fairly late, but is typical of a retail setting.
