Pros
Used to be the culture before the company went public and the CEO and co-founder Jordan Greenhall left - see TechCrunch for details. The vacation is good at 4 weeks for new employees and the benefits are good. Some remnants of the culture are still there like movie nights, video games and happy hours but the atmosphere is nothing like it used to be.
Cons
DivX doesn't pay their employees enough - some engineers do alright and obviously senior management are making away like bandits but the vast majority of the staff is underpaid compared against industry norms. The used to be able to get away with paying people less when they were private and stock options still meant something but not now that they're public and the stock price is unstable. Reviews are few and far between as are raises - a huge problem. Management tries to make it look like they involve the employees in decision making and keep them in the loop but that only keeps up as long as it's something trivial.
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of your CFO and accounting departments and hire competent people. Middle / upper management need to involve engineers more and get decent product managers.
