I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The store that I work at has managers and employees who actually care, but I hear that that is rare for this store. Minimum wage, basic retail job. Organized. Good hours.

    Cons

Not very clean. Everything is dusty, and the bathrooms are often out of order.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean stuff up. Work on appearances, and it'll make the employees and customers all happier.

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Always changing, trying to grow and expand. There are always opportunities for moving up within the company. Fast paced environment.

    Cons

Minimum hour stores struggle to keep up with company's standards of "freight in 48". There is a lot of "trial run" with the company, such as new ideas they think would benefit, but never follow through, and it gets forgotten about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would like company to consider giving a certain amount of hours to smaller volume stores especially during conversion between seasons to reduce the amount of excess product leftover from that season that tends to get pushed to backroom, causing potential shrink.

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Not going to fold anytime soon

    Cons

    Low pay
    Long hours
Unreal expectations of the number hours given to run a store.
No comp time for working 6 days a week/60 plus hours during Christmas season
Poor vacation benefits to full time employees
Almost two years on the job with only one weeks vacation and no personal days
Many stores have unsafe stock rooms which are small. Stores received 1000 to 3000 cases per week with not enough storage to keep them which creates mounds of product

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay high salaries to store managers

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It's easy work and all you really need to do is show up and its all good. If you try it doesnt take a lot to be the best in the store.

    Cons

You might as well not have a social life because you get called in on a daily basis if you have bad co-works. It has horrible pay and if you get a raise it wont matter if they keep raising minimum wage up to what you got your raise for. Also if you ask off even in advance try not to plan cause you most likely wont get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try better with getting managers not to just sit on their phones all the time and compensate for for minimum wage increase for those who just got a raise.

    I worked at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Being a part time cashier, my hours were usually things like 730am-12pm , 1pm-6om. 10am-3pm. Usually no more that five hour shifts. I always got a ten minute break. All i did for the most part was stay on the register, and tidy up around the front of the store when i had no customers.

    Cons

Short breaks. I was usually the only one around unless i called someone, the dollar tree i worked at was pretty busy, so that was kinda annoying.
I didn't have to, but some employees had to work a shift then come back a few hours later to help stock and unload truck. That could tough if you live to far away. Seemed like every week cooperate or whoever would have them change around certain items, it seemed like seasonal maybe? However that would be rather confusing to customers! Id try to help but it happened so frequently that sometimes I didn't even know where the item was. For example, around the holiday season i know the holiday bags moved at least 3 times in a month, like every week!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a little more hours, its bad enough the pay sucks. Stop moving things so often, it gets confusing to the customers.
