I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am lucky enough to work in a great, clean store. Everyone in my team is willing to work hard and we have fun doing it. The management system is good too, as well as there are opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

The pay is tolerable given the type of retail environment, however if I were the breadwinner or lived in a single income household, even as management, it wouldn't be enough to live on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dollar Tree is already known for preferring to promote from within, keep that up and live by it whenever possible.

Difficult to represent brand standards with hours allocated.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As a Store Manager, you're able to build your own teams and directly hire. Slow season i.e. February, March make it seem like you're almost getting paid enough for what you do. Very easy to move up for internal, but will be paid the bare minimum compared to an external candidate for the same position.

    Cons

Delivery times are unpredictable, lack of communication from upper management. Only being able to schedule associates a maximum of 15 hours at $7.35 an hour and requiring them to have a vehicle makes it extremely difficult to find help. Assistant manager turnover is high. Payroll is severely lacking with the brand standards they want you to represent. Difficult to get raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Look elsewhere

  7. couldnt ask for friendlier coworkers

    Pros

all of my coworkers and managers are extremely friendly, the work is not difficult and upper management is always willing to work around your schedule

    Cons

the pay sucks--but thats more of a corporate thing--and the hours are not that great, the customers are surprisingly stupid 90% of the time

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Staying busy and organized is what I know. I been in customer service for about 16 years and as a manage . I understand working smarter and not harder.

    Cons

The down side i could see would be not having what a customer is looking for on hand , nothing like an disappointed customer.

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Small trucks depending on store size.

    Cons

Store Manager will cut hours mid week on hourly and ASM to save payroll.
Scheduling makes it hard to plan personal life.
Pay raise of .20 in 1 year 7 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Turnover is going to continue to be high if you treat your subordinate employees like they're not getting minimum wage pay for extreme expectations.
