I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is a good place to get your foot into the door of retail.

    Cons

There isn't enough volume to schedule associates, so it is just one manager and one associate all day long. Half the time you are on the register and the other half of the time you're filling in the role of a stocker. There is not a time when I actually feel like I am in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If an associate should use their own car and gas to drop off a bank deposit for the company, they should be compensated (which I believe I will not).

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice to work with the public, in the right store, very nice people to work with

    Cons

As everyone has already said............they pay, the pay rate is not enough to live on and forces good employees that really love working for the company to go else where. When and assistant manager of 2 or 3 years can go else where and get the same rate just starting out at a different company something is really wrong, corporate needs to do something if they really care and want their company to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to the higher up management.............put on a dollar tree uniform, come work our shifts, do our job and survive on what we make for a month, just then maybe you could reconsider giving more hours so we can actually do our jobs, a little more money so we can put food on the table and pay our electric bills.
WALK A MILE IN OUR MOCCOSINS, see what we are really dealing with, if upper management really took the time to read any or all of the reviews on ANY site, they would see that it pretty much is the same problems every where. We as employees do see and appreciate what they need to do to keep everything a dollar, BUT maybe if the higher ups weren't getting such a big piece of the pie, maybe they could give a little more from their employees.
LOOK real hard at the versatile group that work for Dollar Tree, a good portion are students, people from broken homes, single parents, people trying to get on their feet.........think about it, they are ALL keeping Dollar Tree on their feet, so return the favor and LISTEN to those that work for you, HELP those that work for you. I am sure that this will fall on deaf ears but at least those that walk into the company are not walking in blind. Know what your getting into, prepare yourself to work real hard, 8 hours of work expected to be done in a 4 hour span, humanly impossible! Upper Management.........walk and talk with us, make it a true fortune 500 company!

Horrible pay, tons of responsibility, hardly any hours for associate/management coverage, will consume your life.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Easy way to get management experience. Definitely will promote from within if you show drive and common sense and a willingness to learn. Bonus pay for sales and margin.

    Cons

Schedule constantly changes, don't bother if you have kids because you'll miss all your appointments. No way to call in sick because you hardly have any management overlap (even though you get 80 hours of sick pay each year). Bonus = lower hourly rate and you can't guarantee you'll get a bonus anyway especially if the store is old. Pay, bonuses and benefits being reduced every year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're going to have a hard time keeping quality people on with the awful pay and terrible amount of hours for coverage. Someone can get almost as much to push carts at Costco as a Dollar Tree 1st assistant. That's pathetic.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

There is room for advancing in the company. get the chance to work with a lot of different people.

    Cons

Broken promises! Its all about who you know not how hard you work or how good you are at your job. Unfortunately the company underpays the part time assistant managers and treats them like glorified key holders but expects them to do everything a full time assistant does.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't feed the employees Broken promises just to make them happy in that moment.
