Pros
I can only speak for the" For Rent Media Solutions" division, it is very forward thinking and progressive. The Sr. Staff continually looks for ways to increase communication, provide the most up to date tools and suggest product enhancements to keep our division competitive in the marketplace.
Cons
For Rent Media Solutions has over 50 offices across the country, a multitude of products and each sales office is given flexibility to meet the needs of customers. This can sometimes create challenges with communicating a unified message across the country. However, we've seen some positive changes in the last year and I'm encourage and excited that the Sr. Staff is listening.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to conduct employee surveys. The company-wide survey that took place last year was great for all employees, especially since we've seen positive changes that have been made based on employee feedback.
Pros
If you want to work somewhere where the products and services a below standards and way behind in the times work here. You will get paid for basically doing nothing. If you want good benifits for a short term, they are standard.
Cons
Management is useless and you must drink their juice if you want to fit in. HR and corporate are a joke, still trying to figure out who is in charge of them and why they still have a job.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to clean house from the top down with their management team. They need to see who is bringing in their revenue it’s not their management team in VA or their local offices. Let your employees evaluate their management team, listen to them and make some changes.

more communication with lower totem pole employees, more advice from tenured employees,less paperwork,faster response to problems,and need for more advancement toemployees,less good buddy favorites.

Enthusiastic coworkers. Very little politics. Everyone has a chance to make a difference. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Good communications and very appraochable management.

Rssions has impacted business and slowed down career advancement lately.

It is a large company with many divisions that you can work for if you are willing to transfer to a different area.

Manager and work mates focused on doing the minimum required without getting caught. Manager plans lots of team building things that reduce to drunkfests with loads of shouting the company name. Not a good branding policy. To date HPC is still kicking our hineys in our area...wonder why...
Advice to Senior Management
I'd like to say, do your course work and fire people. Perhaps the people you see as fit really aren't. The sales are low, the credits are high, the work is turned in late if at all. From reading on this site, it seems as though this is not the only office with poor management. Managers are screwing off! Someone should snap awake and take notice!!!

Hard to be proud of what you work on.
Old equipment and technology.
Lack of innovation. Most products are copied from competitors.
Businesses do just about anything as long as a client pays them. This leads to rushed, poorly made products.
If you're a hard worker, be prepared to be overloaded with work and forced to compensate for lazy people.
Tough to take vacation knowing when you come back you'll have a ton of work to make up since your manager didn't think to disperse it among your peers.
Some small changes have been made but the same major problems have existed five years or more.
Advice to Senior Management
Hold people accountable and make sure everyone is putting in effort. Don't punish your top workers by giving them more work just because you're afraid to punish the slackers. Have some standards when it comes to selling products. The money a client is willing to pay for a ridiculous, custom-built feature is not worth it if it compromises the integrity of the site.

We need to see more diversity in the Senior Management roles. Develop career paths for individuals that would like to advance within the organization, rather than stating that you "promote from within", but then hire from the outside.

I've had good managers, but they can vary...

commissions structure cannot be relied upon, as it has been subject to change to align with whatever sales strategy upper management has in mind. They do not market the company with traditional methods such as billboards, TV, radio, etc. but rely on sales people and internet search engine partnerships + the occasional trade show.

Good pay for all, and not just managers, would help keep good employees and improve preformance and satisfaction.

Terrible expense reimbursement - no car allowance or reimbursement for mileage
Low salary
Ever changing commission structure, so it is unreliable at best. Also, commissions are stalled so when you first start you are waiting 2-3 months until you see your "guaranteed" commissions that make your salary package acceptable. In other words, prepare yourself for a very small paycheck for 3 months.
Managers throughout the markets abuse their power and the flexibility of the position. While the outside sales team is required to account for any and all whereabouts the managers are not. They use the acheivements of their sales teams as accountability for their time which it is not. Many of the managers are barely qualified to lead their sales teams, and although good efforts are made, they are paid disproportionately higher and do what they want with their time. The regional managers might be surprised to learn what actually goes on in the various markets. I have witnessed managers that would claim to be on sales calls alone or with a sales person when in fact they were not.
Advice to Senior Management
Everyone should follow the same rules. The hypocrisy is maddening with lower/middle management abusing flexibility while holding other staff to total accountability. Upper management needs to address that for the sake of morale and fairness. Everyone should be held to the exact level of accountability.
I believe it would benefit the company to be more particular when promoting individuals to managment. Not all of them have the needed experience. The leader of a sales team should have a well rounded background in sales and years of experience under their belt before being promoted.
There is a great lack of professionalism at each market level in the office. Each manager I have worked for conducted themselves and their market the way they saw fit - again back to everyone needing to play by the same rules.
