    Pros

Very positive and motivating upper management. Our president really makes a strong emphasis on work-life balance. When visiting our home office, everyone seems upbeat and happy to be there.

    Cons

Training still needs some work--especially for new hires.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think our compensation is fair--not the best in the industry, however special promotions designed to increase your commissions are pretty cool when they come around

    Pros

Great Corporate Leadership , constantly changing to meet market demands, values employees and their contributions, room for advancement and great benefits / vacation time.

    Cons

Smaller divisions could use a complete overhaul starting with management.
Although training is sound, it could be more frequent and encompass more subjects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep appreciating your employees and they will continue to go above and beyond to ensure the companies future success

    Pros

This company was fantastic to work for. They allow for fun and work to go hand in hand.

    Cons

Constant change - which can be a positive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep an eye on the slackers. It is a privilege to work for an awesome company and a lot of employees take advantage of the trust that is given to them.

RUN AWAY! Awful management, low salary, overbearing and authoritarian governance, little chance for advancement.

    Pros

Local office in Seattle. Probably great place if you are in upper management or executive level.

    Cons

Awful management, low salary, overbearing and authoritarian governance. My direct report was mercurial, used bad language constantly, brow-beating and belittling and constantly looked for reasons to criticise in front of the entire office. Came in late, worked from home a lot and took credit for my work. This is the single worst experience I have ever had in the corporate environment, in 12 years. Low-wall cubicles so they can watch you. Managers covertly demand unpaid OT or they will replace you. This is an awful place to work and morale is extremely low. Constant lay-offs as they 'refresh' the sales and ops depts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a grip. Get some oversight on your managment tems and provide a healthy working environment. Do not demand free overtime to keep the position.

Current Employee - Manager in Norfolk, VA

    Pros

location and it can be a good starter job right out of college

    Cons

I get tired of hearing managers talk about posting fake reviews so I thought I'd post a real one. CEO Frank Batten Jr is hands off and the company lacks leadership. Complete lack of ethics in the company. Homes.com just fired 20 people because they have no strategic plan and just play it day by day. Company is sinking and shrinking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house and bring in leaders not managers

    Pros

    Benefits
    It's a job providing income
Depending on your position you can buy anything your little computer heart desires.

    Cons

Company is many little companies under one roof. Each little company runs independent of the others so it is hard to understand company goals.
Executive Management act as the 1%ers, never interacting with those in less equitable positions.
Zero growth. The company is shrinking making promotion impossible or until someone quits.
Very little oversight with company politics rampant. If you're not part of the politics you get shunned outright.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have phenomenal people working for you, get up, come out and get to know them.
Quash the politics that goes on, If you allow to continue you will lose your talented employees

    Pros

It was pretty good for entry level experience to learn the business but the pay was too low and they eventually laid off several people in my department.

    Cons

The pay was too low and they eventually laid off several people in my department. So, not the best experience.

    Former Employee - Sales Manager

    Pros

Co-workers, training and very little more.

    Cons

Management is too worried about themselves to even consider their employees. Job and paycheck security is never there, especially as a Sales Person. If you are a great sales person, DE finds way to decrease your commission and eventually will get rid of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at salaries and realize that you are not a Google or Apple, DE is a mediocre company and your people are what makes it a better place. Before you know it, you will find yourself insignificant.
